FEATURES--GROUP RULES (locked)

I’ve added my first set of features since becoming host of the group. Please stop by and have a look at them, and offer some encouragement to the photographers included. James has scored a gong for one of his; he was not a host when his featured shot was submitted—in general I do not subscribe to group hosts featuring their own, or each others’ work—you shouldn’t expect this to be a regular occurrence.

While I have your attention for a moment, could you please make sure you give us the details of camera used to capture your image and the film it was recorded on when submitting work.

Some would point out that it is the image which matters most, and this is true, indeed. But there are two good reasons why we ask you for capture details.

(1) We do get members submitting digital images to the group pool on a regular basis. The capture details enable us to keep the group a film-based one by weeding out images not shot on film. I don’t understand why digital images are submitted to a film group—but it’s a constant occurrence.

(2) As well as being a showcase for the members images, we want the group to be a learning resource. Knowing what format; lens (if available) camera and film was used to shoot a shot, helps newer film users understand how the image was created, and some of the not-so-new-to-film members such as myself can still learn a thing or two from this as well.

This is a long-standing requirement of this group, so, if an image is submitted without these details, it simply won’t be added. However, if any of your film-captured photographs have been rejected because you’ve forgotten to include this information, it goes without saying you’re more than welcome to resubmit it with the capture details included.

Please send me a bubblemail if you’ve got any questions about the guidelines for the group.
Regards,
Brett
