  • Xanadu Sunday by BillyLee

Photograph I took of my sister a few years back. Its great to get it out of the book and put on the bubble. I am getting such joy putting my photographic work onto the bubble. I am getting quiet sidetracked with it all. HOwever, I was so passionate about photography, especially human portraiture. Now I am a printmaker and I think the two compliment each other well. I look forward to learning digital printmaking in the future. Meanwhile this is the last download for the week. I hope you like it. I love it so much. Billy Oh, do you guys know what other groups I can put this in?

  • The Betrayal by April Cowan

This is the first piece in my HSC major works. The series in total is called “Ascendancy” which means domination or influincing figure, but also has connotations to the ascention of Mary in Christianity. Basically what i tried to do was to show how humanity’s expression of faith has changed, evolved, or even stayed the same. “The Betrayal” is basically a contemporary version of the betrayel of Jesus my Judas. Compressed Charcoal on Paper / size: 110×59 cms I would like to thank the wonderful photographer who allowed me to use his brilliant photographs as references throughout the series: mehmet turgut . His page on DeviantART is (http://mehmeturgut.deviantart.com/) and the link to the particular photo for this piece is (http://mehmeturgut.deviantart.com/art/gravity-part-2f-26831677)

  • Virginia - Face Navigation series by Nina SMART

In my most recent series: ‘Face Navigation’ , I have used the fluidity of watercolour painting to express a personal perception of self and others. There is an awareness of the universal human condition through facial expression, and in some cases I create a progression of images, exploring the changing perception of a person by deconstructing facial recognition. As there is a shift over time in attitude or mood, there is a corresponding shift in visual interpretation. Sizes variable, average sizes 250×102 mm. Watercolour on rag paper. / / For current availability of original artworks and sales enquiries please contact Robert Avitabile at: Little Malop Gallery / 101 Little Malop Street / Geelong Victoria / Australia 3220 / Email robert@littlemalopgallery.com.au / Phone: 03 5221 6505 / Web: www.littlemalopgallery.com.au

  • Retail Therapy by Karsten Stier

“Retail Therapy” is a homage to our love / hate relationship with all things shopping. Beginning with the consumer handing out their credit card in the foreground, and ending with a shop-keeper’s open hands in the background. One to collect the card, and the other with a slot in the palm where the money should go. / The contemporary shopping experience has taken over where the Hunter/Gatherer has left off… Oil on Stretched Canvas – No Airbrushing 36 X 54 inches / 92 X 135 cm Original : / $3500 AU – excluding p&p from Melbourne, Australia / contact my Agents at Gallery 112 / .................................................................................

  • Her Slow Disappearance by hatefueled

Ref / with special permission from model and photographer pluschkind I bumped into this fantastic image while browsing the photography on deviant art and the photographer/model was happy to let me try my hand at drawing it. / As you can see though, I ended up painting it. oils on watercolour paper. I’ve never tried that before but i had no black watercolour paint so I thought, why not!? So all I used was black oils and turpentine to get the greys, like with watercolours. / The way the white cuts up the image reminded me of an image we’d looked at in my visual culture class, the artist had digitally erased lines through the person to create white tribal markings. this erasure gave me the idea for the title of this piece.

  • Angel of Baghdad by shayne2011

I have a habit of painting angels for people in crisis. :) I painted this the night the Americans started to bomb Baghdad. Bombs rained on the city non-stop for three weeks. In Barcelona, the city officials covered the Guernica with a shroud. 100’s of thousands died, the cradle of civilisation was destroyed. Some people still today will want to tell me why ‘we’ had to destroy Iraq. I think it was a despicable and cowardly war crime.
