Not ready yet
By: Vesna VD

It’s almost noon
I am not ready yet
Today the Sun came out too soon

I am weaving the dreams
They are leading somewhere
At least, it seems

You can’t stop your rotation
But in the stillness I see all the possibilities
I am swirled in the quiet fascination

I am not ready yet
Sorry, I’ll be late
Maybe I’ll meet you at Sunset

he slayed the dragon
By: Sally Omar

he slayed the dragon
without a sword or blade
the dragon that was festering
in her heart
the dragon that grew in size
from all the lies and betrayal
she suffered in her life
one kiss…those three words
she heard so many times before
the words she believed
the kisses of passion
the door she opened to
so many men before him
with her legs curled
around his back
as they made love
each movement he made
pulsating within her
breathless
she looked into his eyes
deep black eyes of coal
knew it was heartbreak again
soon the dragon would be back
it’s long talons digging into her heart
one tear streamed down her cheek
knowing betrayal would soon begin
she finally realized
there are no knights in shining armor
love is only a fantasy

he slayed the dragon

remnants
By: ShadowDancer

you linger
like an imprint
residing deep inside of me

invisible roots
that have wound around
the inside of my guts
and layered with twisted knots
that I cannot cut
from my soul

your fragments play
to the ghosts in my memory
like a grand matador…
my love was the bull that
you slaughtered

and even though
it feels
like I’m swallowing thorns

I still feel you

your presence is a rage
flowing through my veins
setting me on fire
with every pounding
of my heart

you climbed inside of me
the first second I knew you
and even though you’re gone
you will forever scrape
and claw under my skin

I don’t know how
to remove the pieces of you
that remain

A Guy With Words
By: msdebbie

Although it’s not 1998 to 2004,
when Sex And The City made it seem
like girls always discuss the finer points
of attraction whilst guzzling booze…

I wonder. How would I reply
if part of the SATC crew? To an
audacious “So…what do you go for in a guy?”
Sultry smiling with smutty thoughts.

Raising a shot glass to violently red
lips, then slamming it forcefully.
“She prefers a hairy chest.
I decide with an arse squeeze.

But we need to know,
what do you seek in a guy?
Is it his smell, his eyes,
the size of his hands?"

Geez, the whole thing is making
me sweaty, a bit nervy and weary.
I feel quite uncomfortable, like
I need to puke or become teary.

But I guess the answer’s simple.
If you really must know.
I like a guy with … words.
Yeah, one who reads and writes.

A man who wants to learn each day.
Takes pride in his fluent expression,
grabs at adverbs with precision and flair,
and who wields words carefully.

For they are never intended to
confuse, obfuscate or smudge
the reality that our world
could do with a forceful nudge.

I like a guy who writes
novels and poetry, which might thrill,
horrify, enlighten or delight me
with each fantastic ink-spill.

I like a guy who craves written words
and impresses me with tender language,
having fun with vocabulary, but also making
fun of convention and abused ambition.

I’m not alone in this, surely, to like
a guy who reads – anything and everything.
So we can have engaging disputes and conversations
on many topics, in varied social situations.

I like a guy with words, who listens for
the heartbeat of Margaret Atwood,
or feels the whisper of his own ideas
becoming words on a page.

No matter the time or place,
his words travel until we spark,
igniting like wildfire the ideas
I once found so gloomy and dark.

The words are so absorbing we forget
about breakfast, lunch and tea,
but I can lure him from the page
with coffee or other temptation, you see.

So, no, it’s not a case of chest,
shoulders, or other bits exciting me.
I like a guy with words … and who
seeks to know the words in me.

Rooted in goodness is my Jacaranda
By: sandra .

Promises lie deep.
Fragrant as rice paper tho’ they are,
their scent is merely enveloped in wishes.
They are fleeting.
And of the sea shells bided?
Their lustre is but salty breathed.
They are kept as the token,
if only curios they are.
Yet as we teeter on the very edge of possibility,
dangling our toes,
defiantly,
in the receding tide, wonder.
Holding hands, our love.
Sharing our horizon, now.
We draw our line in the sand,
tripping over it in tic tac toe.
Tho’ dimmed now, we are of whisper.
A knowing of full well,
in life, few promises can be kept.
and yet

“ Wheresoever you go, go with all your heart. ”
Confucius

words are the timbre of our forest
our see
our airs
our fire.
There is a cry.
In tilted now ovation.
An organic scream that tossed wildly,
cool as the air of creation,
warm earth now graced…
Our wish, to be rooted in goodness…too

Let it Out
By: Alison Pearce

When it’s hard to breathe
And the pain won’t leave
Tip back your head
And let it out
Voices silent
Won’t be heard
Let me wipe away
Your tears
Lift your arms
To the sun kissed sky
And let out
Toxic thoughts
Poison self-esteem
Don’t keep them
Trapped inside
Take a chance
On life’s changing dance
Let it go
Let it out
