Recharging Your Batteries

Our natural state of being is vibrant, happy to be alive. Yet, there can be times when we feel run down or simply worn out. This could be due to balancing work, family and friends, our community commitments, etc. This does not mean that we are lazy or unfit for the tasks in our lives; it means that we need to recharge our batteries and find a way of keeping them charged. Vitamins, plenty of water, and extra rest can be very helpful in restoring our physical bodies. But what about our spirit? And if we are willing to delve deeper, we may discover that there is an underlying cause for our exhaustion.

Whenever you are feeling run down, take an honest look at how you have been thinking, feeling and acting. You will likely find a belief, behavior pattern or even a relationship that is out of alignment with who you really are. Perhaps you believe you have to be perfect at everything or you have been bending over backwards to get people to like you. Or maybe you simply have too much on your plate right now. There may also be people or situations in your life which are draining your precious energy. Once you get clear on the root cause, you can weed it out and better direct your flow of energy in the future.

This is our topic for this week my friends. Recharging our batteries. How do you recharge, refresh and refocus yourself; to be able to face the tasks ahead of you? Is there a special way that you would like to share with us, as to how you accomplish this in your life? Don’t be shy. I’ve created this space where we can come together and discuss issues that are of importance in our lives. Please feel free to share. You may find, as you read through other’s input, that you can benefit from other member’s practices and instill them into your own life.

I will go first. I find napping to be highly beneficial to me, and to recharging my batteries. Due to my health conditions, commitments that I have made on RB, my writing commitments, as well as to my family and friends, drain me at times. I make a conscious decision most days, to turn of my cell phone, turn off the lights, grab a comfy blanket and a pillow and doze off for a while. It could be fifteen minutes or a full hour. I do not constraint myself here. Whatever my body needs at that time in the day, I allow it to embrace. I also employ the wonderful effects of bubble baths. Those however, I usually reserve for the night time. When I can really make an event of it. Candles, a glass of wine, maybe some soft music. Just nurture myself beneath the warm bubbly water for a while. And then as the tub is draining, I envision all of my days angst or worries, running down the drain with the bath water…

Your turn….;-)

Comment Photographing Women
1 topic, 9 posts

Hello my dear friends.

I have been contacted recently, and by several of you now, in regards to the style you use when photographing women.

Moreover why some may chose to pose women nude, or partially clothed and in a suggestive manner, while others chose a more fashion related everyday statement within their work? Or even choosing the day to day random shot of women in their element.

Seeing as though at least nine of you have questioned me about this lately, I feel it’s an important topic to delve into.

So I ask you this, for this week’s topic:

If you are a photographer that shoots women, do you chose nude or implied nudity as your choice, a fashion shot, or something random and why?

And if you are a self-portraiture photographer, the same questions applies.

For myself personally I adore trying to achieve glamour with my self-portraits. It just feels right for me personally. What about you?
