About This Group

‘Downtown’ covers modern cities that have embraced skyscrapers. The photo can show the street scene or the views from skyscrapers etc, and we cover all aspects of Downtown – we want to see the action and the neons etc and the things that give downtown its unique buzz!

Before you submit any work to this group, please have a look at the featured photos and the photos below (scroll down) to see the quality and the style of work we are hoping to display in this group.

We are a group for outdoor photos, or interiors that are accessible by the general public – arcades, subways & hotel foyers etc. We’d like to capture the excitement & colour & the lights of Downtown – street scenes taken in the main section (CBD) of a modern city, and also, the excitement and vibrancy of the inner city suburbs as well.

Our definition of a modern city is a city like New York, Chicago, Las Vegas, Vancouver, Toronto, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sydney or the Gold Coast etc, or any similar city to those named and we are only accepting photos taken in the CBD or the inner city suburbs. We don’t want the street scene to show anything built before around 1900 thanks – there are plenty of other groups that accept photos of older cities – we are after modern cities – cities that have embraced skyscrapers.

There are endless photo opportunities and fascinating places to visit in a modern city, and we want to see it all – the streets, the buildings, the theatre districts, Times Square, Broadway, the West End, Chinatown, the outdoor cafes, night shots, the Squares etc. Photos from the walkways of bridges are acceptable as long as the subject is of the city – buildings, streets etc, rather than the river or harbour etc – we want to see all of Downtown.
