This is a doll that is now really collectible, she was bought for me as a gift. If you buy a Collectible Doll try and buy the First In A Series as it is usually a good investment in these days of less collectible items. This Barbie is the First in a Series of Limited Edition Designs by famous fashion designers and is named Sheer Illusion designed by Nolan Miller. She was over $200 to purchase so was a very generous gift to me but most collectors are holding on to Sheer Illusion, for she has made it into the realm of a true Collectible modern Barbie now. Is there a Queen of the Oceans? Is there one who honors the moon and it’s pull on the ocean tides and on all womenkind’s moontime tides? I say yes. She is here and she feels the rumble of war in her caves of the deep. It makes her sad. She wants peace too. She is decorated with amber and beads of aquamarine, wood, shell (hand-carved bracelet), fresh water pearls and semi-precious chips. The chips include turquoise (moon-shaped), malacite, peridot and citrine. I knitted the top part of this mermaid Art/Spirit doll. To see more visit Winona Dolls / www.annievad.etsy.com

More dolls (of course). I’ve been meaning to finish this composition for quite a while and got inspired by the weather. These miniture dolls are known as “snow babies”. They are usually very tiny porcelain miniatures depicting children in “snow suits” doing all sorts of various things. These babies were part of my late Mother’s doll and miniature collection of which I now have custody. For some reason, snow babies too are quite the collectible item. I don’t really know why, but if you do, I’d love to hear the story. This image is a photo collage creation made up from a number of my own photographs using Photoshop CS3 and a little bit of my imagination.
A Cloth doll by Lenci sold at auction on October 31st 2009. This doll is a beautiful example of these collectible designer cloth dolls manufactured in the 1920’s and 1930’s. This unmistakable look which can’t be described but which is as distinctive as a fingerprint was created by “Madame Lenci”, also known as Elena Scavini, and the “look” was patented in 1921. The Lenci look has since been copied by many doll designers and many types of dolls with this “look” have become known as dolls of the Lenci style. Some are quite cute and others beautiful. This one was a beauty which inspired a photograph before the auction. Canon Rebel X1i / ISO 400 / f/5.6 / 1/10 second / EF-S18-55mm @ 53 / As shot
This doll is my Mother’s. She has passed down to me her love of doll collecting. I took some pictures of them while I was up there the other day
This hand-knitted pony is little, based on the Waldorf pattern used in the younger grades, this is a Fantasy Pony knitted with various yarns. My first UNICORN, but hardly my last. She has beads for eyes, sheepskin ears, sequined hoofs and a silver colored metal cone with end bead as horn. She is 4 1/4” hoof to ear tip, over 5” nose to butt, of course that includes the neck curvature. Eunice is quite shy and had a defect at birth. It has left a scar on her neck which is visable as she looks away. Strangely she could not look in that direction if she hadn’t had the defect! Be gentle with her feelings around that, eh?
I LOVE BARBIE DOLLS :)
These are handmade dolls, knitted, based on the Waldorf patterns. I’m doing a series for my collector of black girls and ponies. I call this doll Patti as a tribute to Patti Labelle’s wilder side. She wears a sheepskin dress held with a celtic knot belt and a rabbit stole. Her hair is all to one side and dreadlock-like. The Pony I call “The White Steed”. He’s pretty magnificent.
