This is a collaborative work between Kevin Bergen and myself. Kevin did all the technical work putting together this triptych of the Caribbean Eucalyptus Series 1, 2 and 3, I had posted in Red Bubbles. My appreciation to Kevin Bergen for his vision and knowledge, if it were not for his expertise this triptych would have not been possible. I feel it is a wonderful collaborative artwork. This triptych artwork was recently submitted for evaluation for an exhibition of ART IN NATURE being organized by The Center for Fine Art Photography. / /

You who were darkness warmed my flesh / where out of darkness rose the seed. / Then all a world I made in me; / all the world you hear and see / hung upon my dreaming blood. There moved the multitudinous stars, / and coloured birds and fishes moved. / There swam the sliding continents. / All time lay rolled in me, and sense, / and love that knew not its beloved. O node and focus of the world; / I hold you deep within that well / you shall escape and not escape- / that mirrors still your sleeping shape; / that nurtures still your crescent cell. I wither and you break from me; / yet though you dance in living light / I am the earth, I am the root, / I am the stem that fed the fruit, / the link that joins you to the night. (Judith Wright) /
A belated description. / This is an ode to unhealthy relationships. Not the ones where you have an argument every once in a while, or maybe lots of little ones all over the place, but otherwise everything is peachy keen. This is to the other kind, even or uneven, where one or the other has to protect themselves, in all kinds of ways. Do they stay and learn how to take it, or protect themselves better? Or do they lose everything except their freedom and fly away? I have placed the ‘fight’ bride in a small area that is cramped and hard to breathe, holding her dress and hair up as a barrier. Whereas our ‘flight’ bride has lots of space to move, is making herself free of the confines of the dress, taking down the barrier. oh to be back in forgotten days days when bounding bushy tailed / to the neighbour’s front door / at seven on a saturday morning / seemed like the right thing to do / are they coming out to play? days when mud seemed a challenge / waiting to be tackled head on / and the only reward needed / was the despairing reaction back home / what the? take your shoes off! days when storming to a two nil lead / with bragging rights up for grabs / was met by the one sound in the world / that every kid dreads / yer tea’s ready days when you could fearlessly chase the waves / with thoughts of being swept away / not even raised for consideration / as you leapt the barrier and breezed past the warning signs / danger: do not enter days when it all seemed so simple / no monthly payments or broken hearts / or loyalty points or crooked politicians / and everything was all such a laugh / oh the days, the days —-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—-—- Location: Porthleven, Cornwall, England © Donald Cameron 2009 / Monophotography.co.uk

This Orange and Red hibiscus plant was blooming outside my parents lanai in Port Charlotte, Florida and I thought they may look good as a triptych. All 3 photos were taken in Macro Mode, Manual Focus with a Nikon D90 DSLR, Sigma 17-70 mm lens, focal length 70 mm. / /

featured 11/01/09 in welcome to washington featured 10/29/09 in the world as we see it… / or as we missed it for pcnw’s and nancy levine’s “on location” class… the assignment? photograph and present a triptych of scenes that depicted the 19th century pioneer square. the challenge? nothing in the scene can indicate any other era. this was not going to be easy… we were given the suggestion to start scouting our location early and i began by speaking with shop owners; starting with my friend and past colleauge jb of trinity nightclub he gave me a wonderful tour of his place (needless to say, i’m not as young as i used to be, and i don’t get an opportunity to hang at the club) and gave me some leads on the history… turns out his building is the oldest existing commercial structure in the square. i went back several times and i spent alot of time getting familiar with the style of photography from the era; from the cameras that were used to the printing processes and paid attention to the photographers vision. i studied museum galleries and i even browsed around a few sites ran by everyday people sharing thier heirloom family photos, noticing the nuances of the color, discoloration, textures, tears, and finally presentation. here, is my final result. i’m very, very honored to share that levine’s response, “in all the time i’ve been teaching this class, this is the very best i’ve seen, ever!” wow, i was so blushed and all i could do is give a little smile, but i felt like dancing around the room!! ©gabryshak / canon eos 20d / 75mm lens / iso “h” (cfn expanded for noise) / f/5.6 / shutters vary various adjustments in picasa and cs3: / sepia, desaturation, selective level adjustments in each color channel, low opacity slight radial blur, 7x more sharpness. i created some discoloration, a slight tear and flicks of missing pigment for authenticity and mood. the brilliant beaded woodwork that frames each individual image is taken from a photograph of my completed work in order to truly share the depth of my heART. if you ever have an opportunity to take the underground tour of seattle, you are in for a real treat!! this was from the 5pm tour on tuesday evening… talk about a walk back through history... it was so fascinating and entertaining that even though i intended on leaving the tour midway due to time restraints…. i was left in awe of the history, all the way to the very tailend -left yearning to capture some more, meandering carefully at the museum displays at the end and dying to continue my expedition in the city afterwards reflecting on some of seattles interesting beginnings… from the rich backgrounds of doc maynard and seattle’s first mayor to the first women of the town who have enlightened me about what it means to be a seamstress.
