Welcome all to DAC. This group’s idea is to not only have the best artwork on the Bubble, but also to help other artists improve their manipulation skills, buy learning from each other. That’s one thing I’ve found in the year I’ve been here. I have a lot to learn, and what better way then to learn from experts. I’m finished with school, so I rely on learning as I go. So, give us your best, and tell us how you did it. Very simple rules, in my mind. Please, only use the forums for comments and discussions related to our group. As always…. HAVE FUN IN DAC!!!

Comment FEATURED ARTIST GEORGE LENZ

HERE IS MY INTERVIEW WITH GEORGE ABOUT HIS AMAZING ART.
1. Could you tell us a little bit about yourself and your equipment and programs/processes you use to create your art?

As an award winning Digital Photographic Artist my mission is to provide high quality images that are pleasing to your eye, by changing ordinary photographs into fine works of digital art. Pieces you’d be proud to display in your home, or business.

Some of my specialties include car photography, horses and abstract digital artistry. I’m a member of a local art guild, and exhibit at local galleries and art venues. I run my own photography business, aptly titled Lenz Photo Shop.

Equipment Used Canon Rebel xTI, Nikon Coolpix S52, Panasonic Lumix DMC-F27; Primary Canon Lens: 18-55mm; 60mm macro; 75-300mm zoom

I use Photoshop CS2/3 as a photo editing program, and use a number of plugin filters and complimentary programs for special effects too numerous to list here.
2. What first inspired your interest in art? What continues to inspire you?

One of my life’s desires is to be a photographer. So, I’ve started working towards the goal of producing high quality digital photographic artwork. I’ve been a Red Bubble member since August 2007 and enjoy having virtual friends, and sharing/learning with other photographers. Red Bubble provides a great way to get recognition and appreciation for your art, and learn from fellow Bubblers. I am amazed at God’s creations in this world and it’s my pleasure to capture them, and I enjoy the challenge of turning ordinary photographs into work of art.
3. What type of art do you enjoy the most and why?

Digital photography is an art form, although a lot of people would not agree. The technology available can truly allow the artist to use their imagination and be as creative and expressive as possible. My art has the full spectrum from straight photography to images that are completely computer generated. The term Digital Photographic Artist is one that I associate myself with, because that is what defines my art.
4. Where is the most spectacular place you’ve ever been?

Well, I haven’t been to a lot of places, not being a world traveler and all. I would have to say that Maui has the most beautiful scenery and photographic opportunities available that I have seen.
5. What are your dreams, goals and aspirations as an artist?
I hope to one day be a renowned artist, and am slowly working towards that by getting exposure and increasing my abilities. Time can be your enemy sometimes. My only regret is that I started later in life, however, I really enjoy what I’m doing and the people I have met have been a huge encouragement to me.
6. What has been your greatest accomplishment as an artist up to the present date?

That’s a tough question. I would say just knowing that people appreciate my art and are willing to dish out there hard earned money to have it. To me that is humbling and I’m honored to be able to do that. One experience I remember was a job I did for a client of Photoshopping one of her wedding pictures for a gift she wanted to give her husband. When I gave it to her tears came to her eyes, tears of joy of course. That was a good feeling to know that I was part of that.

7. Do you have an inspirational message you would like to share with other artists?

We all have our reasons why we are artists. Most of us get discouraged and frustrated at one point or another. Personally, I tend to worry, sometimes, about stuff I have no control over, which is not a good idea. There’s enough to worry about with stuff you have control over.

I think we as artists have to decide why we started doing it in the first place. More than likely it was because you enjoy creating your art. It’s that simple. Continue to keep your frame of mind around that so you can enjoy it and still have fun. When it becomes a chore, you may want to rethink your priorities. If you’re trying to make a living at it and that’s not working, well, you’ve taken the fun out of it. There’s a big difference in being an artist and running a business, because you don’t always get to do what you enjoy doing – creating art.

Thx for letting me share.
