Black rock panorama, taken using a D90 at Widemouth Bay Beach, Bude, Cornwall. taken by my wife Sue, she had to rush into place to get this shot, me not very fast at the moment so was left holding the baby in the car,
Late evening sunshine falls on the off-route beach of Small Mouth, which lies between Combe Martin and Ilfracombe, North Devon, UK. To reach the beach you need to take the coast path and then climb down numerous steep steps clinging to the cliff face…..the climb back is literally breath-taking! The cliff of Little Hangman lies in the background. Taken June 2009. Olympus E 510 / 18mm (14 – 42 kit lens) / f/11 1/125 iso200 / Raw conversion/Elements 7
Grey seal posing in the Isles of Scilly. I could just see an airbubble with a caption.
B&W image of South Crofty tin mine. Pool near Redruth. I had a wander about with my brother and his kids. It was quite eerie amongst all that abandonment. Sorted through some old pictures I took ages ago to see if I could rescue any. NIKON D60 WITH 18-55MM NIKKOR VR LENS /
No one told this owner, that it’s the Boat that goes in the Water, not the Water in the Boat!!!!!!!!!
The old boathouse at Cadgwith was used for generations as repair workshop for the many small fishing boats that used to be used for pilchard fishing from the port. These days, most of the boats catch crabs and lobsters but it’s good to see them still using traditional methods that are sustainable for fish stocks. Cadgwith is situated near the Lizard Point on Cornwall’s Lizard Peninsula and I’m delighted to see it has changed so little in all the years I’ve been visiting it, long may it remain so. Whilst walking in a Bluebell Glade with my good friend Pete a few years ago on the way to Logan Rock in Cornwall., I came across a sea of really tiny unfurling ferns. This one very tiny emerging fern caught my eye, and I just thought, “this looks just like a Sea Horse waiting for boxing gloves”. Without a tripod on me it was taken hand held. I hope you like it as much as I do as it always make me smile. Technical: / Fuji S6500FD / Super Macro. / 6 million Pixels High. / Hand held Auto
Serpentine rocks make up The Lizard peninsula in Cornwall – this stream drained into the sea from grassland. Would be interested to know what people think of the watercolour sky compared to the ink remainder.
View from the old railway bridge at the beginning of the Camel Trail near Padstow, Cornwall. I was drawn to the different hues in the rocks. Chalk pastel on grey card.
Just a fun piece of writing to highlight the Great West Country Getaway, which is a joint group meet taking place on March 22nd 2010 in Cornwall for a minimum of 4 nights. Also for fun, I have incorporated the names of the three groups involved within the poem. If anyone else wants to join in the fun in March, then feel free to join us.
Taken August 2009 in St Ives, Cornwall, sheltering in The Lifeboat with a superb pint of HSD as the weather changed like a see saw from sun to dull to squall and back again. The railings outside were framed by the open window, almost becoming one. If you look veeeeery closely, I have kept the abandoned wine bottle to the bottom dark area of the photo…I wonder whose it was…..why was there still a glassfull left…..and, was it any good…..? Technical: / Fuji f11 (always with me when walking etc) / 6.3 million Pixels Fine / Hand held Auto / Metered on exterior to silhouette window. / 1/560th Sec @ f5.7 Post processed in PSP X2 / Standard Brush strokes + Hot Wax / Top and bottom burned in a bit / Blue colour shift and Nik Efex Pro Brilliance 62%

Originally uploaded in March ‘08, this was a capture of the storm that hit SW England that same month. / This was taken from the bridge at Dawlish Railway Station, Devon, England. / Despite the rough weather, the trains continued to run, and this stretch of track is the most expensive to maintain, due to the battering it gets from the sea. / This is a common sight in Dawlish during the winter months, and sometimes during the Summer months also. This picture was originally tonemapped by Dave Warren and I have revamped it a little bit to give it a slightly different look. Thanks again to Dave for his help with this. Thank you for looking. / Hope you like it. Best Viewed Large. Pentax K110D. / Pentax 18-55mm lens.
