Destination Australia

Group Rules:

1) All art, clothing and writing must be about Australia. If the main subject of your image is a closeup of a family member then it most likely doesn’t qualify unless the image shows them doing something that is clearly Australian.
2) All art must be photographic. That is we will not accept paintings; photos of paintings, graffiti or scupltures unless the graffiti or sculpture is in a publicly accessible space and the image shows the context of the piece, ie it shows the street/garden not just the graffiti or sculpture.
3) All photographic art must contain a point of focus. We love DOF but please ensure that at least some small portion of your image is in focus. If we have to question our need for glasses then it is unlikely to be accepted.
4) All art must contain the name of the location. The group’s main focus is tourism related and while your image may be beautiful it doesn’t really help tourists if they don’t know where to find it.
5) All art must not be heavily manipulated. If the tree wasn’t on that hill when you snapped the shot then it shouldn’t be in the image you submit either. This also excludes the application of textures to a photo and it also excludes selective colouring.
6) All colour art must contain natural colours, so no IR images. We will accept black and white and sepia toned images. We will also be accepting HDR again but only those where the colours are still natural and no unusual halos are present.
7) All submissions must be suitable for all ages so no nudity or overtly sexual references.
8) All submissions must meet RB’s quality guidelines. We want to see your best work. So no over/underexposed images, no accidental crooked horizons, no colour casts other than those of the magic hour, no fuzzy shots (some pixels must at least be sharp), and no happy snaps no matter how cute the subject.
9) All sunset photographs must include other elements of interest. We’d like to see the whole scene. So include the sweeping beach, that magnificent coastal cliffs, the frolicking people or that luxury yacht floating by. What we don’t want to see is just the ocean and coloured sky or just a couple of rocks and coloured sky.
10) All close-up images of animals and flowers must be of Australian natives only. If the shot is so close that we can’t tell what animal/flower it is then it is unlikely we will accept it. We will accept non-native species images provided they are general shots of gardens (not your backyard unless you live in a Botanical Garden) or zoo shots. To qualify they need to show the context/environment.
11) Any image submitted for a group challenge must be present in the group at the time of submission. It is not sufficient to have a ‘Pending Approval’ mark against the image. The image must still be in the group when the challenge has ended otherwise the image will be disqualified.

Whilst there are no daily or weekly limits for this group we reserve the right to cull images from bulk loads to the group. Similarly if you submit several variations on a subject then we may choose to cull those beyond the first one or two to ensure more variety of works within the group.

The hosts reserve the right to reject an image if it does not meet the above rules or RedBubble’s standards for images. We will also cull the gallery from time to time to keep it fresh and stop it from growing too large. You are welcome to resubmit any items at a later date.

Group Charter

Features:
6 new items to be selected each week with a combination of writing, clothing and images. In addition one of our members will be singled out for a special mention. As part of this they will be featured on the group’s home page for approximately 8 weeks. If you’d like to nominate a member, other than yourself, then please contact one of your hosts.

Journals
Journals will be accepted and they may be used to promote exhibitions of your work, organise friendly gatherings or to highlight competition that you’ve heard of. To be accepted your journal must be relevant to our groups aims and not about selling products, services or bragging about your RB features. Journals will be regularly cleared so that old entries don’t hang around beyond their use by date.

Writing
This section is for interesting stories about your travels within Australia. Tell us where you have been, what you did there, how much it cost, where to go for more details and what was worth seeing/photographing. Don’t forget to include some images to encourage us to follow in your footsteps. Haven’t been on a holiday lately then tell us about your local area, What is there to do, where should we eat, where is the best coffee. Have a larger than life story about a great Aussie character then this is the place to tell it or maybe you are a bush poet and would like to share your words with others. If so then this is the place to submit it.

Clothing
All clothing should be related to Australia in some way. Maybe it is an image of an Australian icon like a Kangaroo or maybe it is an Australia saying like G’Day mate or maybe it is a funny drawing of an Aussie toilet. Make it something that a tourist would buy or anyone wanting to wear on their next OS holiday.

Challenges
Every week a new challenge will start. It will remain open for entries for 7 days and then will be voted on by our members. The first 4 placegetters will win themselves a feature on the Sunday following then end of voting. These 4 will then be eligible to enter the Super Challenge which will be run four times a year and again voted on by our members. The top 6 entries from the Super Challenges held during the year will then be eligible to enter the Challenge of the Year for which there will be an RB voucher and the honour of knowing that your image was the best challenge image for the year.

Other Activities
From time to time we may run other activities. Please let us know if you have any ideas on what you’d like to see in this area.
