Nature of the Universe ($20 voucher)

The Challenge

~ What’s it all about?

This one’s geared to twist your head a bit! Where did it come from? How? When? Why? What is the essential of nature of existence as we know it? (As in everything! The Cosmos, the Earth, Time, Life, the galaxies, the whole shebang?)

Not that anybody really knows the answers… as for how we got here, there’s a standard theory most are familiar with: the Big Bang. But in recent years, many physicists have questioned even that. Either way it doesn’t tell us why it happened, what occurred beforehand, or even if there WAS a “beforehand.”

Some say, ours is only one of countless other universes and “Big Bangs” are happening all the time. Others say, the Bang was actually a Bounce and again, the phenomenon repeats itself throughout Eternity. The fact is, theories abound; but they ARE theories, and even mainstream scientists can’t agree on all the cold, hard facts.

Did a Creator, as in God, design and make the Universe? Is the Universe itself Alive? Is it all an illusion, or a dream, as Hinduism always said (a theory some contemporary scientists also hold, today)?

It’s all speculation at this point, no matter how “hard” the science. If the facts were known and confirmed, there wouldn’t be debate among the experts! This challenge is for YOUR speculations. So put on your thinking caps… show us something cool about the way you see the Nature of the Universe!

Doesn’t have to be Creation. There are many other questions to explore: like are there myriads of co-dimensions (mirror universes), or are we alone? Is Time a Cosmic Standard, or have we “imagined” that, as well? And what about the future of the Universe? We know it’s expanding, but will it retract again or will gravity lose the battle in the end ~ in which case, what happens then? Will Dark Energy dissolve even sub-atomic particles as some believe, or will “another” Universe evolve, from yet another Cosmic Bang?

What about those exo-planets? They’ve discovered nearly 800 worlds beyond our solar system now, but so far no “New Earths.” Are there any? Or again, are we alone?

Artwork only, please (No shirt designs or i-phone covers). Get as wild as you want! Just be sure to tie your image to the challenge theme via title, text and/or the image you portray.

Please do not submit Science Fiction ~ as in, starships, battle-robots, alien cities and the like. This challenge focuses on scientific possibilities, not stories based on what might happen if the possibilities are true. The line can be thin, but if your work is classic Sci-Fi it will be likely be rejected at discretion of the hosts.

Titles are important! Sadly, some wonderful images have been rejected in this group because they’re titled “Done in Bryce” or “Abstract #3.” So take a moment out to think about a more descriptive “science” title ~ such as, “Birth of a Galaxy” or maybe, “Dark Energy Encounters Light,” etc.

Style and approach are up to you… and all mediums are welcome (drawings, painting, Photoshop manipulations, Bryce, Apophosis, etc). Just be sure your entry’s in the group and adheres to all our requirements, as well as the challenge theme!

As always, we’re looking forward to some awesome, thought provoking work!

Judging / Voting Criteria

Vote for as many as you like. Base your votes on content, artistic excellence, creativity and innovation as well as how well you think they fit the challenge theme.

As always, No Soliciting of Votes. Any member caught padding the ballot box either via Bubblemail, Facebook, or any other venue will have their work removed and also be deleted from the group. It may sound harsh but soliciting for votes is FRAUD, especially when monetary prizes are involved. So play fair! Let the artwork win on merit, not on popularity.

VOTES are IMPORTANT! We have not received a lot of votes in recent challenges. Reminders will be sent if possible, but if you enter PLEASE PARTICIPATE!

Rewards & Prizes

The winner will receive a $20 voucher from the Bubble, as well as a banner and be show-cased on our Group Home Page (providing the image has at least 5 votes)! If your entry is horizontal, it will be our Avatar. If your entry is vertical, we will use it for a banner (verticals don’t work for avatars).

In the event of a tie for 1st Place, all winners will be honored in accord with Bubble policy.

Runners up also get a banner and a mention, if the entries get at least 3 votes. (If we have at least 20 entries this will be the Top 10. If less, we will recognize the Top 5.)

Additional Information

Work must be accepted in the group to qualify. Again, be sure your work adheres to the focus of the challenge and the rules of the group; all entries deemed otherwise will be removed at the discretion of the hosts.

We’re looking forward to some super innovative art! Hope you’ll have some fun with this.

[Note: Hosts, as members too, may enter challenges. However, if the host who originates the challenge happens to win a $20 voucher, he or she will donate the voucher to the group either in an upcoming challenge, or award.]
