A night in the mountains beside a loud waterfall becomes surreal as the speaker contemplates the similarity between the refining of gold and of the spirit.
This piece was written for the ! Creative Writing and Poetry ! challenge “Halloween Themed”. “Submit a short story or poem of no more than 300 words on the theme of halloween or just something spooky in general. If it’s a story, it can be a true one, or a fictional one, but make it interesting.” I did a different take on what we would describe as “spooky” or “scary” in today’s society and the future. Because of this I chose something a little less conventional as the source of my tale of terror. Our knowledge of the universe is growing everyday but still we know but a fraction of what’s really out there. New discoveries are being made constantly but we are only able to observe to a certain limit. This story is fictional, based perhaps in the future. A little tale of the thoughts of a ship’s captain, stranded in the midst of an endless universe, alone and unknowing of her location in time or space. A discussion of the wonders of the universe and just how terrifying and incomprehensive it is.
This is a repost. I tried in vain once again to link this poem to the other one through a journal…but, it seems (as I suspected!) I’m too dumb to actually make it happen. :) I can accept that. / So…here it is, posted again; as the last time I posted this for my beautiful grandmother, I had just joined the bubble, and not many read it. / I wanted my Gran read. She raised me after my mum died when I was 7 (and had lived with us most of my young life before then) – i miss them both more than words can say, as you can imagine. / thank you for reading. :)
Please forgive me for this silly piece of nonsense, sometimes I just like to amuse myself.
I had to remove a few racey lines from this one… / No one was ever going to see it, but someone I know told me it was some of my best writing, so here you go
For K :) You are such a beautiful bright spirit and an inspiration to so many. Love you lady
A fictional epiphany after a drive in the rain.
This piece was inspired by Coppertrees Halloween image Trick or Treat written for the Halloween collab challenge currently running in the Challenge Cafe group.
a poem written 12 years ago. I have a stack…. made more poigniant by the fact I’m playing the leading role in Miss Saigon which opens next week. Little did I know I’d be singing a song titled, “The Sun and the Moon” 12 years later.
This is a poem about a woman surrendering a kiss to her lover.
a simple quote
Sometimes it must be done…. / Just got to come out on the other side.

This is a group where members can showcase their talents for writings and poems. It is all about effort. Poetry is surely welcome here as well. A writing on an image is not what we are aiming for. We may run challenges in the group that will have the writing on an image. Limit your submission to three per day as this is a new group. We are looking foward to seeing what your creative mind is capable of producing in a writing.
