Looking out through the trees at Derwent Water and the little boat house on the Island. Lake District, England. He leads me beside still waters and restores my soul. Book of Psalms 23
Featured in Country Bumpkin on July 4, 2009 This hypnotic wild creature was impossible to resist! He appeared on the grounds of Hawk’s Nest Lodge in Amsted WV in the early evening. What a beautiful raccoon!

Big and little, they are probably very close in age but the heavy horse filly is so much bigger. They were so cute together shortly after this shot the little on started pulling on the other mane she just stood there, they are obviously good friends growing up together. Bales of hay sit scattered around the paddocks waiting to be carted off to the hay shed.
This was taken at Mill Creek Lake in Amherst Virginia not too far from where I live, with my Cannon Powershot SX 110 IS. This is just a 5 minute drive for me. On the bank where I am standing it is already getting dark…but across the lake by the trees, the last light of the day is still shining. Such a beautiful place. / FEATURED IN LAKES AND INLAND WATERWAYS / FEATURED IN COUNTRY BUMPKIN

Here a semi-silhouetted hiker walks the Delicate Arch elevated trail in Arches National Park in southern Utah, USA on a hot summer day. Wearing only shoes and shorts attests to the heat of the day. He also carries his camera in order to record the vast beauty around him.
You can find more than arches in Arches Nat’l Park. These statues of colorful stone were not only numerous, but every bit as interesting and grand as their counterparts for which the park was named.
Trudging through the autumn woods in the local canyons east of Salt Lake City, Utah, USA about 25 years ago, I snapped the near setting sun as it shone through the burnt-orange trees and brush that surrounded me. The “rough pastels” filter in Photoshop CS2 was applied to give this inherently abstract photograph an artistic, painterly effect. This photo would make a beautiful abstract art piece.
On my fantastic day out with David Lewins, we trekked up and past Drakes Stone to find these fantastic views of the Northumberland National Park. Thanks David for taking me there. Nikon D300 / Sigma 18-200mm / f/14 @ 1/100th sec / ISO 200 / Focal Length – 18mm

Here is a view of Delicate Arch in Arches Nat’l Park, Utah, USA that is not normally photographed: looking right up at the massive rock arch from nearly straight below it. You can see the sun is high and it’s HOT, just peeking out from behind the red stone.
Taken at Cragside in Northumberland on my fantastic day out with David Lewins. I had never seen one of these before let alone photograph them. Thanks once again David. Nikon D300 / Sigma 105 macro / f11 @ 1/100th sec / ISO 200

I believe this was a pink dogwood, but I didn’t get down into the woods until after it started turning white. I’m not sure, I guess we’ll have to wait until next spring!
