Baby sloth- Punta Uva, Costa Rica. The baby had fallen out of the tree and the gardeners found him. They were pushing him around in a wheelbarrow to keep him safe from a large boa constrictor that was roaming the premises. I’m not sure how, but the baby was eventually reunited with his mom… We saw them in a tree together a few days later. Nikon D700 / 105mm / 1/400 sec / f3 / ISO 200

Whenever I see a sunset like this, I expect some booming voice to come out of the sky and give me some profound advice…..It never happens, though. This spectacular view was captured in the little village of Estereillos Este in south-central Costa Rica. Shot with a Nikon D300 and Nikon 18-200VR.

It is very difficult to get a great shot of a Hummingbird as they are constantly moving. To my surprise and after many, many shots taken, this particular picture came out rather cool. I hope you enjoy viewing it.

These lichens were growing on a tree right on the beach near Punta Uva, Costa Rica. I stayed at that beach for 10 days, and didn’t actually notice the lichens until the second-last day. This photo is best viewed big. Nikon D700 / 105mm macro / f22 / 1/50 second exposure / ISO 720
I photographed this moth near Punta Uva, Costa Rica. Not only did the moth choose a nice colorful flower to settle on, he sat nice and still for a few minutes and didn’t seem to mind my macro lens in his face! It is rare to get such a cooperative photo subject. Nikon D700 / 105mm macro / f25 / 1/100 sec, handheld / ISO 720
