Perhaps there is room for one more ! Do You Think so ! The perfect day, after the mass ascension of the special shapes, the field is cleared and the compatition begins, for the regular shapes, with bean bag tossing, to the colorful streamers, each trying to get the most exact throw to collect points for the ultimate prize, along with the poles extended above the ground having envelopes with cash and other prizes to win ! now remember these balloons do not have flying controls, they can ascend, decend, and spin like a top, the credit of course is to navigate with as much skill, and of course Luck, but the obstacles is a crowded sky ! Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. the second week of October, each year, So far this was the best day ! Camera olympus E-500 with up to 150 mm lens, with polarization filter, and of course smile presented, Hope you enjoy the view, I say Awesome ! 2009 oh Yes Sylvia ! I was thinking of You ! :-)) paul

Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival 2009, Queensbury, NY This balloon made it up through the mist into the clearing sky. The balloon almost looks superimposed onto the photograph with the contrast of the brightness and sharpness of it’s outline compared to the soft layered mist below. / AS IS
this was taken at the margate kite festival,it was a shame because it was a bit of a misty day.
During the early days of the Albuquerque, New Mexico Balloon Fiesta, there appeared a most appealing New Balloon in the skies, the amazement was of course that this balloon had a double painted scene on the outside so as it rotated one could observe this hand painted creation, bear in mind the size of the balloon is compared to an average home, somewhere in the cobwebs I recall the price of the painted effort around $15,000.00 US, and then it was seen a couple of times at other shows, then disappered ! captured on film the year I don’t recall, possibly in the early 1990’s but it was a marvel, there were few special shapes in those days, but it stands out as one of the outstanding memories ! Camera Yashica Electro X -TL, as best recalled slide film, but other specifics not remembered or documented, Albuquerque beauty in the skies !

WHAT A DAY AT MT. BAKER, WITH A HOT AIR BALLOON IN THE SHOT TOO. ABOUT MT. BAKER BELOW / Mount Baker, or Koma Kulshan, is an active9 glaciated andesitic stratovolcano [4] in the Cascade Volcanic Arc and the North Cascades of Washington State in the United States. It is the second-most active volcano in the range after Mount Saint Helens. It is about 31 miles (50 km) [10] due east of the city of Bellingham, Whatcom County, making it the northernmost volcano in the Cascade Range but not the northernmost of the Cascade Volcanic Arc, which extends north into the Coast Mountains. Mount Baker is the youngest volcano in the Mount Baker volcanic field.[5] While volcanism has persisted here for some 1.5 million years, the current glaciated cone is likely no more than 140,000 years old, and possibly no older than 80-90,000 years. Older volcanic edifices have mostly eroded away due to glaciation. After Mount Rainier, Mount Baker is the most heavily glaciated of the Cascade volcanoes; the volume of snow and ice on Mount Baker (0.43 cubic miles or 1.8 cubic kilometers) is greater than that of all the other Cascades volcanoes (except Rainier) combined. It is also one of the snowiest places in the world; in 1999, Mount Baker Ski Area, located 14 km (8.4 mi) to the northeast, set the world record for snowfall in a single season—1,140 inches (95 feet or 2,896 cm).[11] At 10,778 feet (3,285 m), it is the fourth-highest mountain in Washington State and the sixth-highest in the Cascade Range.4 Located in the Mount Baker Wilderness, it is visible from much of Greater Victoria, Greater Vancouver and south to Seattle in Washington.
