Perhaps there is room for one more ! Do You Think so ! The perfect day, after the mass ascension of the special shapes, the field is cleared and the compatition begins, for the regular shapes, with bean bag tossing, to the colorful streamers, each trying to get the most exact throw to collect points for the ultimate prize, along with the poles extended above the ground having envelopes with cash and other prizes to win ! now remember these balloons do not have flying controls, they can ascend, decend, and spin like a top, the credit of course is to navigate with as much skill, and of course Luck, but the obstacles is a crowded sky ! Albuquerque, New Mexico USA. the second week of October, each year, So far this was the best day ! Camera olympus E-500 with up to 150 mm lens, with polarization filter, and of course smile presented, Hope you enjoy the view, I say Awesome ! 2009 oh Yes Sylvia ! I was thinking of You ! :-)) paul

Adirondack Hot Air Balloon Festival 2009, Queensbury, NY This balloon made it up through the mist into the clearing sky. The balloon almost looks superimposed onto the photograph with the contrast of the brightness and sharpness of it’s outline compared to the soft layered mist below. / AS IS
this was taken at the margate kite festival,it was a shame because it was a bit of a misty day.
During the early days of the Albuquerque, New Mexico Balloon Fiesta, there appeared a most appealing New Balloon in the skies, the amazement was of course that this balloon had a double painted scene on the outside so as it rotated one could observe this hand painted creation, bear in mind the size of the balloon is compared to an average home, somewhere in the cobwebs I recall the price of the painted effort around $15,000.00 US, and then it was seen a couple of times at other shows, then disappered ! captured on film the year I don’t recall, possibly in the early 1990’s but it was a marvel, there were few special shapes in those days, but it stands out as one of the outstanding memories ! Camera Yashica Electro X -TL, as best recalled slide film, but other specifics not remembered or documented, Albuquerque beauty in the skies !
Taken at Plano’s Annual Balloon Festival

I have friends in this hot air balloon but I was chicken to go. I’m glad I didn’t! I had a blast chasing them all over Lancaster county past all the Amish farms and of course I had my camera on my lap ready to photograph anything that moved. Great summer evening in the Amish country. / This picture was taken just outside of Paradise Pennsylvania.

Thursday Special Shapes Rodeo is scheduled for Thursday and Friday morning ! Thursday I decided to take pictures from a different perspective rather than my normal place, in a designated area normaly used for eating food, it was virtually empty of eaters, so I with my mono pod leaned against one of the coral poles and did what any photographer would do, used the live display to frame as many balloons shots possible in one picture, than panned sidways to get another and another as they lifted off ! on the evening show they are tethered to the ground and the event is called the Glowdeo ! Olympus E-500 with 42 to 150 mm lens from ground level ! Enjoy ! Albuquerque, New Mexico USA.
This shot was taken of this famous hot air balloon at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta , as the Balloons made their final “take off” of the weekend
Just a shot of Balloons hovering overhead before heading south east towards Somerset from Bristol , they are totally dependant on wind direction ( as well as a good pilot !) and having been up a few times , the story from the pilot is that the Balloons “ground staff” find a goodfarmers field for landing purposes and if the farmer allows the balloon to land in his field he gets a bottle of Scotch , needless to say there are a lot of happy farmers down Somerset way !
