Would you like to host this group?
Sometimes, for whatever reason, a group is left without any active hosts. If you’d like help with hosting this group this is what you need to do:
Find a minimum of two other group members who would like to host the group with you as a team. You could do this via bubblemail or by asking for volunteers in the group forum.Write to us with the usernames of three or more people to become hosts, and include a link to the group. After we instate the new hosting team, we will ask you all to join the Friends of RedBubble group and have a read of the host manual before you get started. We discourage people from hosting bucketloads of groups, so if you already have quite a few groups on your hosting résumé and this one isn’t particularly close to your heart, please consider encouraging some of the other group members to give hosting a go.This message was added February 2012This is primarily a place for artists with principles inspired by the expressionists, fauvists, nabi, dadaists, romantics, post-impressionists, mannerists, cubists, symbolists, art nouveau, pop art, post-modernists, and modern realists.
Generally all of which hold SOME elements of “realism” and SOME of “expressionism”… WE EXIST ON THE BORDER BETWEEN
The concept COULD be considered a bit like an anti-realist, since our goal in part would be to break specific “realist” rules.
“REALIST” – in art – the principle of depicting persons and scenes as they actually exist, without idealization; art that attempts to represent the world in an accurate or familiar way. everyday scenes are favored over idealized, historical, or mythological subjects.
TOO LIMITING!!!
Now, though we want something “familiar” within the work, and we do want to work with subjects from life… we DO NOT want to limit the way we paint them, to how we see them, physically…
We DO want SOME LEVEL of reality to the work, but in addition we WANT IMAGINATION… we WANT to see PERSONALITY, EXPERIMENTATION, and ATTITUDE… we WANT STYLE and GLAMOUR within our work… really lets see how CREATIVE and EXPRESSIVE we can be!
BASIC GUIDELINES
- All works MUST have a subject/object… NO PURE ABSTRACTS!
- HAND-MADE ARTWORK ONLY!!!
- No photography and no digital or digitally enhanced work. By “enhanced” we mean no tweaks that stray from the original. ALL touch-ups should be made with the intent to display an accurate representation of the original work.
- The subject, though stylized, should be easily recognizable (generally speaking, we should be able to tell that a person is a person and a tree is a tree, ya’ know)
– Religious artworks will be somewhat limited. Anything viewed as overly “preaching” ones faith will likely be rejected, (no trying to convert here) though, like many of the masters, work depicting stories rooted in faith/religion/sprituality will be much more likely acceptable.
- Sketches, cartoons, caricatures, and comic book/graphic novel illustrations will also be limited… if the work wouldn’t be seen in a gallery (or magazine/comic/graphic novel as is) it will likely be rejected. Basically just no unfinished works or little doodles… unless they REALLY stand out.
- I have decided to allow patternwork for fabric and wallpaper and such… I do believe it will be a great help to us all in spicing up our works! The pattern must be clearly seen for acceptance.
We promise all accepted submissions will have time on the groups main page, though they may be limited only to a few hours depending on the volume of work coming in, but absolutely no rushing through like 50 pieces at a time… :)
Contests will be coming sometime early next year…
