I took my camera to work today and I had lunch on the beach. this was the view I had. / I will have to come back for a sunrise shot someday!
I have wanted to get some good images of Daylight lightning for a while now and the 20th Nov 2009 was the day. A very slow moving storm cell passed overhead, and it was amazing in it’s activity. This image was taken about 10 minutes after the storm had passed overhead. But as it was moving very slowly it was still far to close to be in the open. Just after this image a bolt struck less that 100m off the beach where I was, made me jump about 6 foot. Image taken with a Nikon D300 and the 18-70mm lens at f18
It was time for some infrared. I’ve been a little distracted lately….or maybe I was just waiting for the right sky!

This was taken just after sunrise at the Canoe Pool at Newcastle Beach. There was a pretty big swell and a rising tide and this was the last shot I got before lifting tripod and camera over my head to save them from the wave!!! I myself got pretty wet though. / Nikon D300, 1/4sec, f32
Right near the waters edge on Tuggerah Lake these Pine Needle trees grow amongst the thick grass. 3 EXP HDR (-2, 2, +2) / f/22 at 1/3, 1/13, 1.0 / Focal: 18mm / ISO: 100 / Flash: No / Camera: Canon EOS 350D SLR / PhotoMatix Pro, PS CS4, Lightroom 2
Unless its my imagination beachwear seems to be getting larger, not smaller, so we may as well accelerate it a bit heh. Without compromising aesthetics. Taken at the Canoe Pool at Newcastle Baths, we should be able to recognize those railings by now.
Taken just before sunrise at the Canoe Pool on Newcastle Beach. The waves were breaking over the edge of the pool and then the water streaming out over the edge. What more could you want for a morning photography!!

This image was taken one sultry autumn night and features the jetty near the baths at Belmont on beautiful Lake Macquarie. I like to think this lake is Australia’s best kept secret although the lake itself is the largest coastal saltwater lake in Australia, over four times the size of Sydney Harbour and is 24 km long with 174 kms of foreshore, with what seems like unlimited beautiful bays and beaches. It gives its name to the City of Lake Macquarie that joins the boundaries of the City of Newcastle, making the area a unique destination for both residents and tourists. The lake is bounded by he Pacific Ocean on the eastern side the Watagan Mountains to the west. So come and visit, stay awhile and enjoy what the area has to offer … maybe you won’t want to leave. / Also in the Belmont Bay Series /
There is nothing more rewarding than sitting, waiting for the sun to set. The mind and body somehow unwind as you direct your total attention to watching the colours unfold .. almost like a symphony. Certainly the view from the salt water baths at Belmont is always a favourite spot and on any evening you will find other photographers thinking the same. Also in the Belmont Bay Series /

During our recent trip to Barrington Tops we took a day to drive around the Williams and Allyn rivers. Along the Allyn river rd is a swimming hole called Ladies Well. It is one of the prettiest places we found in the Barrington region and we had it all to ourselves. I chickened out of going for a swim as I found it to cold but my wife Miriam did go in. This is the lower pool which is a little harder to get to as it is a slogg across slippery rocks and rainforest. / This is a Panoramic image made from 2 shots taken with a Nikon D300 using the 18-200VR lens. Both images were processed from RAW in CS3 and then stitched.
The river Allyn runs out from the top of the Barringtons like many other rivers. The Allyn has many spots to stop and admire but the best place My wife and I found is Ladies Well, a swimming hole with a couple of small waterfalls. This is the start of the drop down to the lower hole and the way the water flowed and the colour in the pool at the base caught me eye. This was a difficult shot to take due to the dangerous position I had to take on the edge of a 6m drop / This is a 2 image vertical panoramic shot with a Nikon D300 and the 18-200 VR lens, set at f16 and a 2 second exposure.
Must admit that today is a ggod day. I checked my mail at 3pm to discover that about 2 hours ago I made my first sale on Redbubble. It is a great feeling to know that someone out there likes your work enough to order a print. This was a Large Poster of the work Monument Valley panorama 2 / I would love to thank both the buyer and Redbubble for this wonderful feeling. / THANK YOU
Diners enjoy a meal at the various restaurants, cafes, and takeaway shops along The Esplanade at Terrigal, NSW. / The lighting looked great this night and there weren’t too many people walking around, they were all sitting down eating, so it made it a lot easier to get the photo. 3 Exp HDR / 7 Image Panorama / Canon 350D / Lens: 18-55mm EF-S / Focal length: 18mm / ISO: 100 / Tripod Mounted / Photomatix Pro, Photoshop CS4, Lightroom 2
