FOR CANDID GROUP MEMBERS ONLY. YOUR WORK MUST HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO THE GROUP BEFORE SUBMITTING IT TO THIS CHALLENGE.
We want to see un-posed, unplanned, unobtrusive shots of people (unknown to you) going about their daily life. We want to see just how good you are at candid photography.
This isn’t about technique – we want to see how close you can get to a person without them making eye contact with the camera. Can you make them feel relaxed and at ease enough around you so that they forget you have a camera pointed in their direction, and they just go about their daily life? And if you can, then show us that shot.
Your shots must be with a 55mm (or its equivalent for film/full format) or less. No telephoto/zoom lenses greater than 55mm allowed. The point of the challenge is to get up close to your subject but in such a way as to capture them unaware of, or unconcerned by, your presence.
Please vote for the image you believe represents the best candid shot – using a 55mm (or its equivalent for film/full format) lens or less – where you believe the photographer got close enough to a person (unknown to the photographer) to make that person feel relaxed and at ease, and not concerned by the presence of the photographer. In voting you need to see that there was ‘closeness’ between the photographer and his/her subject.
The Image receiving the most number of votes will be the winner of the challenge and as such that image will appear as the Group’s Avatar until the next Challenge. Remember, your entry must comply with the rules of the group and must have been submitted to the group BEFORE submitting to the Challenge.
Your image will be removed if:
1. It does not follow the brief; and
2. Your entry has not already been accepted into the candid group before you enter it into the challenge.
ONLY ONE (1) ENTRY PER GROUP MEMBER.
