Girls' world 10 by maka1967
A girl gave an old man who searched garbage bin for food her cookies. But the old man didn’t know how to open it, so she then came back to open it for him (I also photographed that, if you want to see it, please let me know.). Not many girls would do that. She behaved very naturally. She gave me some hope for the new generation.

Small Things In Life by Elaine Harriott
A young boy picked the smallest flower he could find in a field of flowers and sat on the street corner smelling it. Simply beautiful – the small things in life that matter!

Old Friends by elbambino
This shot was taken in Copacabana in 2006, a little town in the north of Bolivia, situated on the bank of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world at 3800 mts. / There was a big celebration in town that day and so much to see and discover. But I was so tired that I decided to sit down and rest for a while when those two men sat just in front of me. I took so many pictures of them but this one is my favorite.

Balancing Act by newbeltane
I saw these two young people gingerly making their way across the edge of an outdoor swimming pool in Clevedon, near Bristol (UK). They were so engrossed in what they were doing that they didn’t look around once. I liked the way in which their reflection is blurred due to the wind disturbing the water but just enough not to completely obscure it. Taken at maximum zoom on my Fuji 602z bridge-type camera.

Patient Pilgrims by Embino
I took this photo on a recent trip to India, when our overnight train from Delhi to Jaisalmer stopped at a remote town. The women arrived first in their beautiful immaculate Saris and immediately assumed the immoveable squat that seems to come so naturally in India. The men stand around chatting, or attending to washing or drinking from the fountain. It had recently been the Holi festival which explains why the man to the right of the fountain has a slightly purplish hue…. Everyone in this photo seems to be lost in their own thoughts, just patiently waiting for the next train…

Supper by maka1967
Taken last early winter on film. Traditionally, high steps and stone or bronze carvings of beasts of prey are symbols of power in China. In ancient society, government offices had high steps (No concept of “barrier-free” then.) and placed carvings of beast guards beside their doors. Today this is still a convention to a great extent. Even many banks and stores practise it. The power culture still prevails. This scene, besides its sadness, reminded me the traditional Chinese phrase to describe prisoner, literally “captive under steps”.
