This is the portrait of a man who not only made my life possible, but showed me how to live it well. He taught me the virtues of living an honest, caring and hard working life. He taught me how to stick to my beliefs, even when they did not match his own. And he was always there supporting every ethical endeavor I did, and, as well, he was there to reprimand every stupid and unethical decision and action. From the above, you would say he is a wonderful father. And so he is. Our friends Mark & Martha have a party every year for their birthdays. This year it was a bit delayed (stuff happens). I call Mark the cat with nine lives because he is a cancer survivor. Having battled melanoma and come through many surgeries and very close calls, he is a constant reminder to each of us that know him to live in the moment each and every day… to savour each day we are given and to share time… and laughter… and love with the people who are important to us. I have been greatly blessed in many ways since my lovely Lindybird entered my life and her blessings include the friends I have gained through her as well. I want to thank Candid Photographs of Friends and Family for a recent feature of two incredibly talented and warm, loving friends Mark & Martha… ‘the cat with nine lives (and his lady)’ / / I have been trying to expand my portfolio to include more portraiture, especially candid portraits that capture the inner spirit of the subject (as I abhor posed images). With these two it was easy… they are such real, giving and outgoing people and a beautiful couple. I view this honour as a tribute to them and not to me.
