This was a tiny little spider (about 5mm long) just minding its own business on my kitchen window… The late morning light shining right through! :) I see her regularly there and she’s now an honorary pet alongside the guinea pigs, dog, fish and hamsters :) Named after the nursery rhyme: “Incy Wincy spider, climbed up the water spout…” [Milton Keynes, UK] ((Konica-Minolta 5D, Kit 18-70 lens @60mm, f:8, 1/8 sec, ISO 80, EV +0.3. +3 close-up filter. Curves & cropping in PS)
My usual place, probably the same leaf, but a different spider. Northern Suburbs Crematorium and Memorial Gardens. (on the cusp of Chatswood/Ryde) NSW. Usually my subjects are all fidgety and looking for food, but this little spider was quite relaxed, and a little preoccupied with a chrysalis lollipop that looked like it had well and truly been sucked at both ends.
European bee – Bordeaux France. (No post-processing done!). The full-resolution image is simply captivating. Unfortunately this low-res Redbubble display can’t even compare. A Matted print or even a Canvas print will definitely please…p.s. I can blur out my finger if you are interested in a purchase (although it does put things in perspective). =) Taken August 2009 Canon 350D / Canon macro 60mm [1:1] / F16 @ 1/200 / ISO 200 Detail crop (eyes): /

This tiny insect was underneath an EXTREMELY small mushroom…....at the time I photographed this, I had to dig in the ground to turn my camera up-side down to get the angle right…Didn’t even KNOW the bug was there. / The height of this mushroom was only about 1 inch. / Found in NE Kansas, in a wooded area of one of my favorite places to hike. LOVE forests…....nothing like the feeling of peace you get when standing there in it’s green glory!

The family Tettigoniidae, known in American English as katydids and in British English as bush-crickets, contains more than 6,400 species. It is part of the suborder Ensifera and the only family in the superfamily Tettigonioidea. They are also known as long-horned grasshoppers, although they are more closely related to crickets than to grasshoppers. Tettigoniids may be distinguished from grasshoppers by the length of their filamentous antennae, which may exceed their own body length, while grasshoppers’ antennae are always relatively short and thickened.
