Topic: Group News / Please Read - Standards & Rejected Images

Hello Dear Members of the Bokeh Group!

With so many members now in the group – almost 900- we are once again raising the bar of our current standards to only allow the best of the best into our group gallery.
We are currently getting around 10 pages of submissions to go through every day – which is great! Please keep the submissions coming!

However, please understand that we will be looking at everything with a bit more critical eye than we have in the past so please don’t be offended if your image is not accepted because as always it does not mean we don’t like the image, it only means that it does not fit into the vision of what we want the Bokeh gallery to be.

We are looking for more than just “snap shot” type images, we are looking for the type of pictures that you would hang on your wall, or see in an art gallery. We are looking for pictures with that special magical bokeh quality that make you say ‘wow’ when you see it.

We realize that this is subjective to the viewer, which is why there are times when it takes longer for your image to be approved or rejected. If one of the mods are unsure they will leave it for another mod and a note in the mod forum about it.

Some things that we will be looking harder at:

Bokeh both the “lights” and the creamyness kind
Framing
Exposure
Uniqueness – this is a huge one. Do you guys have any idea how many pictures of flowers (with or without drops) on them we get each day? (I’m not complaining at all, just asking you to think about it if your flower shot is rejected yet still has great bokeh in it.)

While we do always welcome your flower shots, in the future we will be holding them to much higher standards and really looking for that “something special” that sets it apart from the rest before we accept it into the group.

As with any group, please also think for a moment before just going down your groups list and checking everything on it. Not all pictures fit into the bokeh group and we get many each day that are obviously not meant for it at all yet the same few people keep submitting them over and over.

Group hosting takes up time, folks (sometimes 2+ hours a day), and while I/we love doing it, you can help make our job easier by not posting something to our group that you know does not belong. (like landscapes in full sharpness for one example).
