Part of my Contemporary Christmas collection. The images are accompanied with some ideas for decorating and celebrating Christmas. I hope you enjoy it! Decorating In Detail – If you want a more nostalgic but subtle idea for reusing your old baubles, try wrapping them in old crochet. If you don’t have any of your own, look for them in garage sales, markets or Opportunity Shops like St. Vincent De Paul or the Salvation Army Shop (or their equivalent in your part of the globe). I found some doilies, table napkins and handkerchiefs that were fully crocheted or had edges and corners in crochet at our local Vinnie’s. / Wrap your bauble in a neutral coloured textile like calico or old cotton shirts. It should be thick enough that it muffles the colour of the bauble underneath and plain so it doesn’t visually compete with the crochet. I used a neutral, unbleached calico, but you can also use very dark colours to make the details of the crochet pop-out. Don’t forget not to cover the top end of the bauble, so you can still hang it. Apply white glue to your bauble, wrap it in the base cloth and let it dry. / Then it’s only a matter of positioning your crochet on the bauble, gathering the ends and securing the top with a length of ribbon. / To add more glitter to the bauble, I threaded a plastic bead through both the ends of the loop and tied it off. It serves as a fastener when you attach it to the tree leaves/branches.
I remembered my old hobby….and started again to do some simple jewelry. Its very calming u know. And i regret that i decided to photograph the results…!!! Because now i got additional 300 pics to edit and sort out! I will do it in winter, and for now this one is a lil preview. / And this particular pic i think i made quite well….i set it as my screen saver, coz it looks nicer bigger, and everyone says it looks like a real screensaver lol. The Hope Diamond is the largest blue diamond in the world, weighing 45.52 carats and valued at around $225 million. It is on display at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. This was a difficult photograph to take because the diamond is displayed in a four-sided glass case and rotates around so that people on all sides can see it. The glass, rotation of the diamond, and all the lights and flashes reflecting off of the diamond made it very difficult for me to get what I consider a good quality photograph of it. The mermaid image comes from my own painting and its captured inside a cabochon with a magnifying glass dome.
