We’re not asking you to write a story, though we’d love it if you did! But your art should spin a tale of its own ~ whether we can guess the real plot or not. Begin in your imagination (“Once upon a time…” ) and let us fill in the rest based on your unique, creative imagery!
All entries for this challenge must be done primarily in black in keeping with the focus of the group: no straight b&w photography (this is not a group for straight photography). Submissions can be done in any medium… including photos…but they must be altered or manipulated or combined to elevate your work from “just a photo” to a digital creation using Photoshop or any other program of your choice.
Paintings – drawings – sketches (if appropriately black) are welcome too. For this challenge, no portraits … no landscapes.. no abstracts, please. Something in your image should be “happening” – something hinting at a story (or which makes us want to read the story, even if it’s never really told!)
So put on your Thinking Hats and let us see your best creations — filed under, “Tales Told in Black!”
Subject matter can be dark as well – or light, if you prefer; but again in keeping with the focus of the group, be sure your artwork is predominantly black. Some color is acceptable, as always. So is a minimal amount of white: conversely, don’t use so much black we can’t see your image – or your story – at all. See the guidelines and our Features if you have any questions on our group requirements.
Story-Telling Artwork Only!
(No shirt designs or i-phone covers for this challenge, please)
You may vote for more than one. Look for creativity, originality, artistic merit and the story-telling quality of images you choose.
If you enter, PLEASE VOTE!! Reminders will be sent if possible.
As always, No Padding of the Ballot Box! Soliciting votes, either via Facebook, Bubblemail and/or any other means, will disqualify your entry and could result in your expulsion from the group! It may sound harsh, but it’s FRAUD. It isn’t fair to other members and it’s also against Bubble policy. So let the artwork win on merit, not on popularity!
Winner gets a winner’s banner, special mention on our Group Home Page and a permanent feature in our Winners Forum in addition to a $20 voucher from the Bubble (provided the entry gets at least 4 votes). He or she will also be among our Featured Artists in the group.
Ties are recognized so if we have more than one, all winners win!
If we have more than 25 entries we will recognize the Top 10. Less than that, and we will recognize the Top 5 (who also get a banner and a permanent place of honor on our Winners Page).
Be sure your entry is accepted in the group by voting time!
Please note that entries not compliant with our focus, group requirements and/or the challenge theme will be removed at the discretion of the hosts.
Hope you’ll have some fun with this! We’re looking forward to a lot of fascinating story-telling work!
Per our policy from the beginning, hosts as members too, may enter challenges at Back in Black.
