This very rainy morning, the fox kits were hanging out by the entrance to their den waiting for their breakfast, voles from the nearby meadow, which arrived dangling from mom’s muzzle. This year the fox vixen chose her den in a culvert off a meadow in the middle of the town of Jackson. Needless to say, the family caused quite a stir with the locals and particularly the wildlife photographers. Fortunately, the foul weather left me alone with the fox family this lovely morning. The fox is the smallest wild member of the dog family. Foxes are found throughout the Americas, Eurasia, and Africa. Most of the ten species of the genus to which the red fox belongs can adapt to diverse climates and habitats. The red fox is the most common species of fox. If fox is your animal totem, you are probably very observant, while quite good at remaining unnoticed yourself. The fox can act as a guide to the unseen world that surrounds us. Because the fox is often most active during dawn and twilight, the “in between times,” and because the fox is often seen along the edges where forests and meadows meet, the “in between places,” it is thought that the fox can lead one into the realm of faeries and other spirits. These young fox were playing along side the road near Helena, Mt. We were on our way home from Billings, I was driving the car, following Robert. He was driving a water truck to Kalispell. I noticed a dust ball along the road, and had to stop to see what was causing it! These fox were running through the fox holes, pouncing on each other, stirring up a ruckus! They were so cute. This is one moment they paused to watch me… “Siblings has been featured in six groups” Wolves and Wild Kin-7/09 / The Fabulous Prairies 7/09 / All Animals Great and Small / Human. Animal. Here’s an image of Ote (the Desert Kit Fox) when he was first learning to be outdoors. He’s smaller than the cinder blocks that are in our daughter’s back yard! What a cute little guy, we surely miss him:) Canon Elph Featured in Baby Animals Group

A fox denned up in the culvert just behind my house (Helena, Mt.) several summers ago. I had days to photograph before she finally moved the kits – probably because they were getting too used to me and pretty bold. Unfortunately I did not have a serious digital at the time so these shots are pretty small. Fun though anyhow.
This was an amazing find for me this summer, a fox den right on the side of the road under a collapsed shed. I was told there were seven kits, but the most I saw at one time was four. / This shot was taken south of Calgary, Alberta, Canada near the small town of Shepard. / Nikon D80, 300mm F/8, ISO 400, 1/500 sec.

This photo was taken in San Diego Zoo, June 2008. / Canon PowerShot S5 IS camera 461 views (19 November 2009) The Giant Panda is an endangered species and highly threatened. According to the latest report (2007), China has 239 giant pandas in captivity (128 of them in Wolong and 67 in Chengdu), and another 27 pandas living outside the country. It also estimated that around 1,590 pandas are currently living in the wild. However, a 2006 study, via DNA analysis, estimated that there might be as many as 2,000 to 3,000 pandas in the wild. Though reports show that the numbers of wild pandas are on the rise, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) believes there is not enough certainty to remove pandas from the endangered animal list. Taken with a Canon 400D, Canon 100 – 400 L series lens @ 400mm, F5.6, shutter speed 1/500 second ISO100, edited in Photoshop Last December I visited Donna Nook on the East coast of England. Every winter a huge population of grey seals visit the beach to give birth to pups. The location is an RAF bombing range which ironically keeps the beach safe and undisturbed; the RAF do not actually bomb when the seals are there. All being well I will be visiting this location again this winter with some of the guys from rb if we can get time off work together. Please view large
This is a little doe who was born out in my area last year. She seems to be without a mother and follows the mother doe that has the twin boys. She has a thicker coat and is very trusting….to a point. lol Here she is taking in an apple. A bit bitter maybe? lol I find her to be extremely cute. :) / Taken in my yard in Amherst, Virginia with my powershot SX110 IS

This is for all the fantastic images of baby animals, from birds to zebras. Images can be from the wild, from a wildlife park, zoo or your home as long as it is a baby animal other than a cat or dog as they have plenty of their own groups.
No animals must be harmed in the process of you taking your photograph, or nests disturbed in order to get that shot.
Let us know where the image was taken and even a bit of info on the subject might be nice but not essential.
