Collaboration with CLiPiCs This is my EKG with my sons names morphed into my heart rhythm / Craig is 16, he is my boy genius / Clay is 14, everyone calls him smiley / They are my reason for being… My Sons / My Life / My Love / My Heart / My Rhythm / My Life Rhythm / My Heart Rhythm / My Heart Beat / My Reason For Living This all started out in a conversation with CLiPiCs (Kriss), / I said… If I were ever to get a tattoo, this is what I would want it to be… / He said… I think I can do that… Now, Kriss knows that my OCD can make it a little annoying to work on projects with me… This looks simple to me- someone who has very little experience with PhotoShop. However, he told me he worked probably a total of 8 hours on it, off and on, over several days. He explained it takes time to pick put the fonts, get the correct color, blend them into the lines evenly, position them correctly, layer them, tweak them, and deal with what he called the “fiddly bits”. / Of course it didn’t help that I kept giving him wrong instructions on what I wanted. I told my Nurse that I needed to do an EKG on myself. She eyed me suspiciously and with a little concern, but then I explained it was an art thing and she pushed me in a room and told me to take off my shirt and bra, she would be right back with the machine. I was a little thankful my regular nurse was on vacation because she would have delighted in putting those EKG leads in ice or something before putting them on my bare chest. So I got my 12 lead EKG, I scanned it and emailed it to Kriss. / Remember he is in London and I am in the United States. So over the computer we viewed it and I explained what I wanted done. Or so I thought. I asked him to use lead II, but I forgot there are two lead II’s on a 12 lead EKG. / / So he worked on it over several days, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmmm, Kriss, I meant the other lead II… / His response- / fmekwfalsfja’sdfndslfnsll which he said was his head banging on the keyboard So he worked on it again, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmm, Kriss, do you think you can make the writing more cursive or script? / His response- / fmawklrejewfndsn’sdfdk which he said was his head banging on the keyboard So he worked on it again, did a beautiful job and sent it to me. / My response- / ummmmm, Kriss, do you think you can make the writing the same size as the EKG spikes? / His response- / fsmk’lsdfhgodf’sdfk’s which by now I am starting to think is his polite way of cursing, I notice it always starts with an f… So he worked on it again, and this time before sending it to me, he mailed me questions, asking could he crop it some, did I need all the patient info at the top, or did I need all 12 leads? / My response- / Oh…ummm. … all I need is the lead II at the bottom, none of the other stuff needs to be there… / His response- / WOMAN! But I have to say I LOVE the outcome. It is exactly what I envisioned. He did a beautiful job and now I want it as a tattoo. / Thank you Kriss!!!! BTW, I showed this to my sons last night. / The boy genius, Craig, cut his eyes over to his little brother and said “Mom- you should make the heart beat speed up after my name, and then flatline after Clays name!” / The last thing I heard, besides my laughing, was the raucous sound of Clay chasing Craig up the stairs… July 8, 2009
...feeling calm today looking at this painting capturing the calmness of the ocean…an oil painting on canvas 2×3’ ....inspired by this poem ” Eternity at Sea” / That if I would, / I would stand immortally at sea / Gazing for eternity at sea The beauty struck sea / I’d set leave of quay / To immortally find way Stand upon the ocean shore / Reverberating sea splashing at my feet / Shore washing sea, covering my feet To close my eyes is to be at sea / This dream lasts all day to me / One day is like twenty years at sea That if I would, / I would stand immortally at sea / Hoping for eternity at sea Wonder covered sea / I would bless the shore / And leave to be once more Out at sea to sail / And stand upon a ship and sway / Listen to the creak of the wood, and say To close my eyes is to be at sea / A dream that lasts eternity / Eternity, guaranteed, to live Would one day be eternity / I would spend it out at sea / Stand upon the ocean shore, foaming at my feet” / Annie Cordelia Adams ...This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. (John 15:12) .ELO a first experimental oil painting on canvas(Rowney paints&Bockingford)of the waves…..NRDC ..Your Life. Your Oceans…signs of trouble in the ocean are starting to surface....
This was inspired by the beautiful poem ‘By The Sea’ written by my wonderful friend Restlessd It immediately conjured up the music of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata On 17/11/2009 this image has had 756 views Featured in / Art For The World / Jen and Erics Eyes* / MCN :: CBG75-QXBCY-WMQNY By The Sea The moon reflects its luminance / As I stand above the flowing waves. / The tide moves evenly in and out / White foam crashes into the caves. Sea oats whisper in the wind / A gull breaks the night with its cries. / I stand alone taking all this in / And a smile comes into my eyes. Darkness, darkness all around, / The sand so cool to my feet. / The music of the ocean near, / Yet, silence set in so deep. A motionless sky beacons to me / While streaming white stars say no. / So I will stay where I be, I’ll not disturb thee / For I really don’t want to go. Melting clouds drift all about / Just like ghosts beyond the sky. / Now and then there comes a call / As a sea bird soars on by. Away beyond the shoreline tide / A few lone ships fade and hide. / There they await the dawn / Knowing then their work is done. Ebbing, peaceful rhythms ever so near; / Quiet solitude engulfs me, / I am calm and I am happy here, / Walking in the night by the sea. _____ Several backgrounds were blended together in Photoshop CS4, and textures added. The beautiful girl was blended over several layers, some of them being blurred to give movement to her dress. The clouds and moonbeams were painted. I was pleased with the end result, so I really hope that you will like it. ______ Special thanks to the artists who so generously shared their stock… Girl / Gulls / Main background

2006 Acrylic on Canvas 30×40” I was recovering from an accident in early 2006 I was sitting in my balcony, beauitful blue sky, sunshine, cool gentle breeze, and I was in great pain, thinking my painting and art career was over. Feeling bad low…..in great pain, and in despair, when a flurry of butterflies swirl around my plant a get well plant, with flowers, that was next to me. I just sat there looking at these beautiful butterflies, as they seem to say to me, don’t despair, you will recover. Then one of them landed on my right arm, that was in a sling, it flapped its wings as to say cheer up, you have survived worst conditions, then flew away. The sunshine kissed my face and a great feeling of peace came over me, and the great pain in arm and shoulder didn’t matter or seem to hurt anymore. That was a turning point for me as I began to slowly be able to use my right hand, even though I can paint with my left hand almost as well, as with my right .
2009 Acrylic on Canvas 36×36” Years ago as I was going through a nasty divorce and fighting depression, working, creating artwork and trying to run a business all at the same time…...I encountered this old lady very humble looking, but as she approached me I felt a peace a calmness , come over me. She took my hand this perfect stranger and embraced me and kissed my right cheek. I not knowing who she was …....was dumb founded with the peace that came over me.Then she placed this beautiful little angel metal around my neck. It was attached by an old leather string,......She then said to me I was sent to help you. / Don’t remove this image from your person as you will need it, and kissed me again. There were only 3 people there, as I turned to thank her she was gone…..there was nowhere for her to go yet she was gone and the other people didn’t even see her….Strange. / The next day I was hit and run over by a car driven by no less then my soon to be ex-wife in front of the hospital where my son was working part-time he was still in high school I had come to pick him up from his job. / She not only hit me with her car but dragged me about 20 yards to the end of the driveway. / As I was rushed into emergency which was right there …..and bleeding from my face, arm and chest, I felt this strange peace come over me and as I was rushed into xray room and xrayed to see the extent of my injuries, the doctor rushed in with xrays in his hand and a puzzled look on his face and said there is no injuries that I can see no broken bones, nothing that I can see how do you feel? I felt great with this fantastic peace about me…..and the bleeding had stopped. / I only had a scrape on left side of my face and a long scraped along my left arm. (the lady had kissed me on my right cheek)My pants and shirt had been ripped off me almost completely and the xray technician and nurse took the rest off me. There I was almost naked and my pants had burned black tire marks on them everyone was amazed that I was not injured even the 4 witnesses that saw me get run over…..strange / However on the xray an image of an angel metal on my chest that couldn’t be explained, as they had removed my watch (which was broken) and my wedding band….I never put it back on …..and I realized then that the marriage was over…...after being separated for 6 months and 20 years of marriage. It hit me hard…...harder then being run over. / I was never able to explain or find that angel metal that was around my neck for one day and one night…... / So you see there are Angels that look after us!
I give a mind of perfect mood, whereby they draw to Me / And, all for love of them, within their darkened Souls I dwell / And, with bright rays of wisdom’s lamp, their ignorance dispel…... Bhagavad Gita, Book 10 Painting using acrylics, pigment and ink. / 102×42cm on paper. November, 20th 2009

For accompanying music please click on / Beautiful Mind Theme There are four “minds” visible on this collage, but in the evening -under the chin of the “Left lower Mind” an other one is popping up. / A friend of mine, who is a psychologist, said that this is actually my family…. A couple of themes are always returning in my collages: / (sheet) music, post stamps, wood, keys, clocks and eyes. With this collage/painting I want to show my students how to work with the CENTER of INTEREST , (the heart of a painting, the focal point.) An implied triangle connection indicates where the activity takes place and will fascinate the viewer like a bulls-eye! / It will show what inspired the artist (Moi!) to create a scene on canvas with brushes, paints and other mixed media. Artists use a variety of techniques to enhance and emphasize the center of interest. / I used the tone and temperature of the color palette, values, details and abstraction, hard and soft edges, directional lines and patterns, living things, and shapes. The Upper left “mind” had a too strong of a shift in value contrast (the darkest dark’s and lightest lights). So I glued a transparent piece of paper over the eye part. It pushed back that object immediately, there where I wanted it to be. / Also my eye was traveling too much from left under to the upper right (diagonal.) / By placing two vertical lines (the black and white finger print line next to the ear upper left and down left) it calmed down my traveling eye. I hope you enjoy this blue toned collage (and its title) as much as I do. Abstract Collage/Painting on canvas. Measurements: 24X36 inches / (61.x91.4 cm)
