Taken on an unforgetable morning at the remote and beautiful Lake Barracoota dune field in Croajingolong National Park, Victoria, Australia. I went back a few years later and the tree in the middle of this frame had by then fallen down rendering a similar composition impossible. The mountain in the background is called Howe Hill which I climbed a few years ago with a mate catching the sunset reflecting off the lake below, Mallacoota Inlet and Lake Wau Wauka and its dune fields on the other (NSW) side. During the hype of the millennium celebrations in 2000 huge crowds gathered at Cape Byron the most easterly point of Australia in the belief that they would be first to see the dawn of the new millennium. Ironically the crowds got it wrong with one bright bush walker and his wife working out the true location of first light which as you’ve probably guessed was Howe Hill being the highest peak in the area closest to the true angle of the rising sun at that time of year. These two enjoyed the dawn in this most beautiful of spots a full 30 minutes before the Byron masses enjoyed their ‘first’ light. LR and I recieved news this morning (14-11-09) that friends of ours have lost their baby sometime over the last couple of days, which almost killed the young mother. Their baby girl was at 24 weeks. The amount of grief in the fathers voice as he told me what had happened was devastating and shocking and has left both LR and I in something of a stunned tail spin for most of today. After sitting in a jarred silence for about an hour, both of us felt the need to do something and that need ended up with me shooting this. Our thoughts are with them and we will be doing anything we can to support them over the coming weeks and months. Rest In Peace, little one. I visited Lake Albina in September 2004 and stayed for two nights after a memorable day of skiing to get there. If you look carefully you can see my ski trails from my earlier descent from Mt Alice Rawson. Muellers Peak is actually the further peak from this vantage point. The Peak is named after Dr (later Baron) Ferdinand von Mueller who was appointed by Govorner Charles LaTrobe (Govorner of the Port Phillip district, i.e. Melbourne which at that time was part of NSW) in 1853 as govornment botanist. Mueller was very active explorer and undertook numerous expeditions collecting samples and cataloging an enormous proportion of the native flora of south eastern Australia. He is also is responsible according to GeoGecko of being the environmental criminal who introduced one of Australia’s most hated and verdant plant pests the blackberry to ‘provide food and control erosion’. On new years day 1855 he climbed Mt Kosciuszko (2228m) and would certainly have seen if not climbed the near by peak which later bore his name. Muellers Peak is the equal 14th highest peak in Australia and is 2125m high. For other shots from this area check out my Kosciuszko gallery. “This was the exact moment in time when the Power of almighty God and his great compassion and love, touched a dying Child”. Taken in Kaban Muslim village in Nov 2008. I was ministering in the village along with several mission staff, and a mother brought her almost dead child to me and asked for Prayer. As I held the still body of this little boy in my arms, my thoughts went straight to Jesus. I spoke to teh Mother and all around me that the only one that could save this child now as Jesus. I said I will pray in Jesus name. There were a few unhappy elders around, but decided to agree that I should pray in Jesus name, just to see what would Happen. This was the breakthrough. Kaban village is a Muslim village and under Sheria Law. I simply laid my hand on the child and commanded life and divine health to enter the child and that God would fill this child with his spirit. In Jesus name I prayed. Instantly the child because to move his arms and legs and began to cry. I told the mother Jesus had healed her son, and to take her son and breastfeed him as he was hungry. All saw the Power of Jesus and was witnessed by all in the village. Others then came and many were healed and some openly give their lives to Jesus. others followed us on our way to Ungwa/Fada village and received Jesus in private. Jesus is alive and works in and through his people. He loves you, and that is a fact. PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THIS. I am an Irish artist and missionary working with extreme poor in Africa and India. In this one camp 52 children suffer from Intestinal worm infection, and the death rate is very high. This is due to lack of clean water. The is Akuti, an Indian gypsy girl aged 11 years. Her name means ‘Princess’ and she really is a Gypsy princess. But she, like almost all of her people, the Nara_Kar-Avars (gypsy children), are treated with contempt and rejection, and denied even the basics of life. To be born a Gypsy under Hindu religion is to be born into the lowest of the lowest casts. / Known as Outcasts and treated as Untouchables, Akuti and many millions like her face a life with little hope. / She has never gone to school, as her parents barely earn enough to feed her, and cannot afford the £70-$130 per year they need for school fees, uniform and text books. My passion and mission in life is not just to pray and preach to these precious people, but to provide clothing, and the cost of school fees, medical care, and provide tools to help them earn or make a living. / The Philadelphia Mission is a small underfunded, yet effective British charity doing just that in India and Africa. We need you, my friend, to help us do much more. Become part of this mission today! Sow a seed into the life of Akuti and other children in real and terrible need. I don’t usually get political. It’s way past time to end “Don’t ask, Don’t tell.” Not that I want anyone to die, much less in war. I don’t. It’s just a hateful, ridiculous policy. Let’s end it. (All money from sales goes to a non-profit organization.)
