Water quenches thirst. Experiencing nature’s pure beauty refreshes the core inner being… the soul! The first signs of autumn are just beginning to peek through here. The air is becoming cooler every day and the subtle scent of fall is getting more evident in the woods. The park rangers do their very best to keep this great place as pure and unspoiled as possible, and so should we! One simple rule: If you carry anything into the woods, be sure you also carry it back out with you! Leave the forests and streams EXACTLY as you found them! Ricketts Glen is a Pennsylvania State Park, located in the north eastern region of the Keystone State. The nearest community to the park is Red Rock, situated at the junction state routes RT-118 and RT-487. A Canon EOS 10D DSLR body, fitted with a Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L Zoom lens was used. The lens was set to its widest focal length of 17mm. The camera’s shutter speed was 2 seconds at f/11. The camera’s ISO was set to 100. A Manfrotto tripod was used with a remote shutter release cable. Your comments are always welcome! This image taken at the Babcock State Park in Fayette , West Virginia. The Glade Creek Grist Mill is a new mill that was completed in 1976 at Babcock(Fayette , West Virginia). Fully operable, this mill was built as a re-creation of one which once ground grain on Glade Creek long before Babcock became a state park. I have another composition from further away , but the Sun burst in this image is much more prominent , along with the lighting. Burr Oak Kreme Ice Cream Stand & Hotdogs / NIKON D-60 18-55 mm Nikor Nikon VR Lens This is a photo I took near Burr Oak State Park in Glouster, OH. This was at the top of the entrance of one of their many boat docks along the river. This park is part of the Wayne National Forest. Situated in the valley of Sunday Creek, the Burr Oak area was inhabited by Indians and, later, by settlers who found an abundance of game animals and the resources necessary for survival in the Ohio wilderness. Coal, one of Ohio’s most important mineral resources, was mined here for many years • As mining operations expanded, mining towns grew and prospered • Few of these mining towns were as notorious as the village of Santoy. Many colorful tales were told of life in Santoy • In the true spirit of frontier life, so the story goes, a gunfight was once held over a $20 debt • The street was cleared as the two participants met for a showdown • The ensuing battle left both men lying in the street—one dead and the other critically wounded • The “Old West” came to life in Ohio when the coal company payroll was robbed by bandits who made a horse-mounted getaway through the town. Countless other tales live on, but Santoy could not • A fire in 1924 destroyed the coal tipple and several businesses • The loss was so devastating that just three years later the second mine shaft shut down • In November 1931, the nineteen remaining voters decided to abandon the town • Today, only the church, the town’s first building, still stands as a reminder of days gone by, which Burr Oak Kreme sits across the street from. In 1950 Burr Oak Lake was created by the construction of the Tom Jenkins Dam across the east branch of Sunday Creek • Two years later, Burr Oak was dedicated as a state park.

Had to visit Seneca Rocks several times to get a respectful shot. We did have some rather foggy weather at times. I was happy to have a rather nice day to go back and get this one. Seneca Rocks is a large crag and local landmark in Pendleton County in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia, USA. It is easily visible and accessible along West Virginia Route 28 in the Spruce Knob-Seneca Rocks National Recreation Area. One of the best-known scenic attractions in West Virginia, the sheer rock faces of Seneca Rocks are a popular challenge for rock climbers. I woke up this morning with blinding sunshine in my eyes. The forecast had been for rain and dark clouds all day, but there, through the slats of the window blind, was abundant beautiful welcoming light! Got up and ready as quickly as possible and ran over to the river. I was able to capture only a couple of images with some blue sky showing through and then this is what I saw after that. Beautiful, yes, but not exactly what I was hoping for. The weather forecaster turned out to be right again. Oh, well… I still got a really good walk in before the rain started to fall… again. Happy Halloween! Susquehanna State Park is located in the Newberry section of the city of Williamsport, Pennsylvania. ECO-TIP – If you walk your precious pooch in a public park, please remember to not leave any unwelcome “surprises” behind. (I still have to clean my boots before I can wear them again…) This photo was just taken with a Canon EOS 10D camera body using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 35mm. Precious sunshine filtering through the golden autumn leaves was exactly what I wanted to see. After days of rain and cloudy skies, this is exactly the scene I had hoped to find when I went to walk on the levee path in the park. Trees… let’s take very good care of them, they take care of use by providing the very oxygen we breath! This picture was captured in Susquehanna State Park, on the levee path along the West Branch of the Susquehanna River in Williamsport, PA. The image is “straight from the camera”, no alterations or post processing of any kind. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS 10D camera body using a Canon EF 35-350mm f/3.5-5.6L zoom lens set to 35mm. The shutter speed was 1/4th of a second at f/16. The camera’s ISO was set to 100.
