kippah (plural: kippot) is a thin, slightly-rounded skullcap traditionally worn at all times by observant Jewish men, and sometimes by both men and women in Conservative and Reform communities. Its use is associated with demonstrating respect and reverence for God. (Wikipedia). The photo was taken at Jaffa flea market on December 15, 2006.

Melbourne is an elegant city at the best of times. But on the first Tuesday of November each year, when the Melbourne Cup is held at Flemington Racecourse, the fashion stakes are raised considerably higher. This woman, with her striking outfit, walked past me while I was concentrating on something else. I immediately turned around and composed a shot rapidly. I only had a couple of seconds to work out how to frame the shot, and I decided to shoot a reasonably tight frame, concentrating on her headgear, her outfit and her bag, while including the fact that her arm was hooked through that of her male companion. I shot two frames very quickly, while hoping that no one else would walk through the gap between us. There was a marginal difference in the composition of each frame, but this one (the first of the two frames) shows the sense of movement, while capturing the lady’s poise and style. It’s interesting to note that the couple each hold an essential item in their right hands: she holds a beautiful bag; he holds a race form guide! I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a 70-300mm lens. F6.7, 1/500 sec, ISO 200, focal length 190mm. Captured this image, a top view from the fifth floor of my hotel room in Hyderabad. Construction was going on at the back of the hotel and the labour were just relaxed. Nikon D200 Nikkor 70-300
aha…this is Judith my next door neighbour, we are good friends. I was over her place having coffee on the weekend and she was going out soon and had to get ready. As she was applying her makeup, I asked her if I could get a shot of her doing it. I went home (next door) and got my camera. I took this shot using my macro setting. She was facing the window hense the slight lighting on her face. Judith is over 50 so I have added that to put into the 50+ group. /
This is actually a glass beaded bracelet, but on macro, they look a whole lot more interesting.
Shooting in really harsh direct sunlight brings unique challenges, but this photo opportunity literally unfolded in front of me. I was walking past Hamer Hall on St Kilda Road on a warm sunny afternoon recently when I noticed a person (see the foot in the top background) lying down on a concrete pathway, to soak up the sun’s rays during his lunch break. I was a long way away, but I had my 70-300mm lens on the camera, and so I thought I would simply shoot an image of the man’s feet and his dark shoes with their mustard-yellow laces as he lay stretched out in the bright light. As I composed the shot, this man with the long hair arrived, sat down in front of the first man and, almost to my disbelief, also lay down exactly where I had my camera trained. Despite the harsh light, I hit the trigger anyway. You can actually see just how bright it was by looking at his dark glasses, where you can see the reflection of the sun above. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 70-300mm lens. F8, 1/250 sec, ISO 200, focal length 300mm. Parneet is my best friends grand daughter only four years, a very hyperactive and she delivers poses to a photographer’s desire.
Camera: Nikon D70S, 18-200mm Location: Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. I liked the way this beautiful girl in traditional Rajasthani dress was peeping out through the Jharokha(Open window).
