How spooky is a very old windswept cemetary on a cloudy day? I do mean windswept – this is perched on a hill, very exposed, with paddocks all around.
local 18th C graveyard with many graves from mining disasters to first world war soldiers.
700 crosses that represent life lost.
This imagery was made possible and shot under FILMING APPROVAL thanks to FAWKNER MEMORIAL PARK & PRODUCER & ART DIRECTOR: ALATEIA for organising this opportunity for the SHOOTERS GALLERY More Gothic Series Images
I had to take my son to the health visitor clinic today for his year old check up. After we were through there (receiving a glowing report that all is very well with his development) I decided to walk by the graveyard in front of the old C/E church in the village. I had, of course, brought my camera. And this is what I got for my little sojourn.
Moon and Mist, / Forest of trees, / Path is bright, / Can you find me? In the light I am weary, / But very strong, / In heart and soul, / I will follow your song. I will listen for your whistle, / Wind against my ear, / Sounds will lead me, / Home to your arms my dear! And neither the angels in heaven above, / Nor the demons down under the sea, / Can ever dissever my soul from the soul / Of the beautiful Annabel Lee. / For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams / Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; / And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes / Of the beautiful Annabel Lee; / And so, all the night-tide, I lie down by the side / Of my darling, my darling, my life and my bride, / In the sepulcher there by the sea, / In her tomb by the sounding sea. (Edgar Allan Poe)

This is a poem I wrote for my son shortly after his demise. The foundation for his headstone had been poured as we waited the time for his youngest brother to build his headstone with the stones so familiar to his now lifeless hands. A headstone created from one of the many stones he handled throughout his life. As you can see, a wooden cross awaits the mason’s hammer and chisel. Till he is ready to build, this wooden cross held this poem of love for the caretakers’ purpose that was so gracious and kind to respect my wishes. Today is my son’s birthday / Please don’t take his memorial away / I thank you for the consideration you’ve shown / And this little piece of land, he can call his own / His life was somewhat lacking in some things / But he still knew how to cause your heart to sing / It seemed there was nothing you could do to him, / That he wouldn’t soon forgive / He valued the life, which God had given him to live / Though he no longer lives and feels the same things we do / His love is just as real and his memories are just as true / I know you may wonder why I spend so much time here / Beneath this clay, lye’s a most precious son, so dear / When I no longer am able to visit his grave / And beneath this same soil my body shall lay / There will hardly be visitors, to come here anymore / So, please give your indulgence as you have before / By this good deed being granted / May God bless every good seed, you have planted. I Love You My Precious Son / Love Always and Forever, Mother Sons are the heritage of the Lord; / Children are a reward from Him. / Psalms 127:3-5 Written and Composed By: / Nancy Bailey-Whitmore-Shields / Copyright 2005-2009

#DREAMSCAPES#
she lays in slumber..
akin to a rock or lumber,
immobile, placid
undisturbed…yet lucid…
in between dimensions…
traveling in unparalleled motions…
through portals unknown,
mystical and surreal zones…
she lays unperturbed,
unknowingly, undisturbed
of the life in outside world,
voices unheard, visions unfurled
unconsciously conscious,
of many a dream scape,
pious and conscientious.
from reality, a good escape,
she sees… an eidolon…?
distorted images? a phantasm?
such an abysmal somnolence,
landscapes…all still in decadence…
like a Dali in fluid deliquesce…
or even similar to a sensual Matisse…
R.E.M.’s…rapid eye movements…
flap and flit,circular displacements…
snore!!..a despicable razz
slumber so astute,a bottomless buzz…
a magnanimous dream scape galore…
swirling and twirling, from the ceiling to the floor…
she sill lays in slumber…
in a Freudian dream scape,
her verity of existence asunder…!
