The TYPES OF WORK accepted in the African Art and Photography group are unlimited as long as it relates to any of the 54 sovereign states, including Madagascar and various island groups such as Comoros, Mauritius and Seychelles.
This includes photography, writing, paintings, drawings, sketches, digital creations such as images layered with textures and collages as well as Clothing.
The SUBJECT of each piece may be anything that relates to and being captured on the African continent and islands including landscapes, cityscapes, seascapes, all fauna and flora, people and architecture.
The EMPHASIS is NOT on the origin or residence of the artist but on the topic or the subject of the art produced.
We will NOT accept art where the topic of writing or the subject of a photograph is not about anything on the African continent,
e.g. a painting by a citizen of any of the African countries of a waterfall in Australia, or a photograph of a lion in a zoo in Scotland WILL BE REJECTED.
All photographs had to be taken on African and islands soil!
Please provide us with some INFORMATION about the subject in the description-box such as where on the continent a photograph was taken.
All FAUNA AND FLORA photographed or depicted in any form of art must be endemic or indigenous to the continent of Africa and islands.
Where the subject is of migratory birds that reside on the continent but breeds elsewhere in the world, it will be accepted.
Images of intruder species such as the Indian Myna will not be accepted.
Where the subject is of a specific animal or plant species then you should at least provide us with the common or descriptive name. It will help if the Scientific / Latin or Botanical name could also be included as we need to check from time to time whether these species are indeed indigenous to any of the African countries.
The only exception on the rule with regards to fauna, is where animals not generally considered to be “game” or “wildlife”, are part of the everyday life of the people of Africa such as PETS or FARM ANIMALS. These animals are just as much part of Africa as the people to whom they belong.
Work submitted are limited to TWO (2) PER DAY.
At present the TOTAL AMOUNT OF ART PER ARTIST is unlimited.
This group will represent a MAXIMUM OF 100 PAGES in RB. As the pages exceed the limitation the older images will be deleted. However, members are welcome to re-submit deleted images.
MODERATORS approval is final.
