I’ve been after a good bale shot for a long while now, but there just haven’t been any done in any of the fields within walking distance… Until recently! Riding home on my motorbike I passed a couple of fields near my house in Barwell and the farmers were happily providing me with some fantastic photography material – so who am I to turn down an opportunity to take my new Canon out for a ‘field’trip ;)

East Carlton Hall. / In the grounds of the East Carlton Countryside Park. Built in 1863. Not open to the public / Rebuilt in 1870 with red brick in the style of a French chateau. / One storyteller reported that this building was haunted by a lady that had jumped to her death from a balcony after being jilted by her lover.
I spotted this when I was riding and thought, for a toadstool, it was really pretty =D I think its a Fly Agaric =]

Gretton. Northamptonshire. UK / A very beautiful place in the middle of acres of land stands this very old & dilapidated farmhouse and outbuildings. / Taken in natural light…in the middle of nowhere…
This tumbling brickwork is part of one of two 16th-Century angle towers which were built as part of the walls of the so-called Wilderness Garden at the now-ruined castle at Ashby. The Manor of Ashby was first bestowed upon a faithful follower, Hugh de Grentmeisnil, by William I, in the 11th century, & passed through a number of hands over the centuries. Each occupant added buildings & tore down others, which accounts for the structures’ highly intriguing patchwork aspect The Wilderness Garden was probably conceived & constructed during the reign of James I, by then-owner the Earl of Huntingdon. After the Civil War, the castle was ‘slighted’ (partially razed to prevent its being utilized as a defensible fortress), & that process was responsible for its present ruinous state.
As Britain grinds to a halt with a covering of snow, the landscape becomes very photogenic. Nikon D80
There was no way on this earth that i was gonna miss this shot when i saw it, so glad i had my camera on-hand while on the A511 near Ashby, Leicestershire
Taken one night while out and about looking for inspiration and also trying to find an easy way to access a location for a different shot, this pub in Barrow-upon-Soar in Leicestershire looked great. / Tonemapped the final result from more than one shot (can’t remember how many now) just to remove the glare from lights etc and try and bring out as much detail as i could from the shadows/sky during the long exposure.
Taken near the gatehouse at the canal in Loughborough near to Swingbridge Road. / Nothing special, although tonemapped from 6 shots just to get rid of glare etc during this night exposure.

A group in which to display the quality and diversity of landscape, both urban and rural, flora and fauna and people/events of the counties of Leicestershire, Rutland and Nothamptonshire.
The aim of the group, is to reflect what is best in this relatively small geographical area, and in doing so, promote the diversity of these three beautiful counties. The variety of life and landform/use are vast for those who would care to look, with many photographic opportunities, and we want to display and share the best of it with the world.
We want to promote both the area and the artists who show it well, so please familiarise yourself with the groups rules.
