Taken 4/2009 in Yosemite National Park, Ca. / That is hubby on the bike in front of me, the best way to get around in the park is by bicycle. I was riding mine, and taking the photo at the same time. Right after this shot, I crashed. But the camera, bike, and me were fine, just another of my clutzy moments. LOL / Thanks for viewing / as is straight from the camera / FujifinepixS700 / SP~Landscape
Every year more and more motorcycles join the Sarasota Veterans Day Parade. From the newest, biggest, oldest, the Indian Chief, 74 Harely Flat head…....they can all be seen in their glory. How wonderful it is that the Veterans who ride bikes all turn out to show their respect and their love of their country.
with the emphasis on dirt!
THIS WAS MY 1981 HONDALINE INTERSTATE. IT WAS BUILT BY A HONDA DEALER INSTEAD OF THE FACTORY. SO, MY SADDLEBAGS WOULD COME OFF LIKE SUITCASES, AS DID THE TRUNK. SO, IT MADE IT EASY TO TAKE YOUR ITEMS INTO THE TENT OR HOTEL ROOM, WHATEVER YOU HAPPENED TO BE USING AT THE TIME. WITH THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP AND DOWN LIKE IT HAS BEEN, GOING UP MORE THAN DOWN, “I MISS MY GOLD WING”. IT GOT AN AVERAGE OF 45 MILES PER GALLON. THE BEST I EVER GOT WAS 51 MILES PER GALLON AND WHEN I WAS TOWING MY TRAILER, I USUALLY GOT AROUND 41 MILES PER GALLON. MY FORD EXPLORER AVERAGES 17 MILES PER GALLON. I HAD TO GIVE UP MY MOTORCYCLE RIDING DAYS BECAUSE OF MY DISABILITIES AND MULTIPLE SURGERIES. IT GOT TO THE POINT, THAT WHENEVER I RODE FOR ABOUT 60 MILES, I WOULD HAVE TO STOP AND TAKE A BREAK AND EVEN THEN I DIDN’T KNOW IF I WAS GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET OFF OF IT AFTER I PUT THE SIDE STAND DOWN. AT LEAST I GOT TO ENJOY IT FOR 4 YEARS BEFORE I HAD TO SELL IT. I SURE DO WISH I HAD IT BACK, OR AT LEAST HAVE THE MONEY TO GO BUY A NEW ONE. I’D EVEN SETTLE FOR A USED ONE, IF I THOUGHT I COULD RIDE AGAIN. THIS IMAGE WAS TAKEN IN 1985 IN A PARK IN FAIRFIELD CALIFORNIA, JUST ONE YEAR BEFORE I HAD TO SELL THE BIKE AND THE TRAILER THAT I HAD FOR IT. IT WAS A UTILITY TRAILER THAT I BOUGHT FOR $300 AND THEN I TORE IT APART AND REBUILT IT SO THAT IT WOULD BE WEATHER TIGHT. THE TOP FOLDED BACK FAR ENOUGH THAT WITH THE SCREW ON LEGS, IT MADE A TABLE SO IT COULD BE USED TO COOK ON AND SERVE MEALS ON AND STUFF LIKE THAT. I BUILT IN A STEREO SYSTEM ON THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER SO THAT WHEN I WAS CAMPING I COULD USE THE STEREO ON THE TRAILER INSTEAD OF HAVING TO USE THE ONE ON THE MOTORCYCLE, THUS SAVING MY BATTERY ON THE BIKE. THE BATTERY ON THE TRAILER, CHARGED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND THEN ONLY DRAINED FROM THE TRAILER WHEN I WAS PARKED.

In Scheveningen, The Netherlands is another one of those crazy motorcycle beach races Europe is famous for. At the Dutch sea resort town, where during the few summer months Holland has, millions of Dutch and German tourists fight for their little spot on the beach; in the winter it’s a dead zone. All beach restaurants are closed, and only the brave visit the resort town. / That is, until last weekend, when the Red Bull Knockout beach motorcycle enduro came to town. 650 motorcycles start, only a few finish (102 to be exact). With a public counting into the 100,000’s, the 650 motorcycle riders, including some of the most famous names in the business, race around in the white sand. Scheveningen is alive during this special weekend.
Someone wise once said “Only riders understand why a dog sticks his head out of the window”
