Inspired by an entry in the journal of Lisa Jewell. / You can read see her journal entry here / This is my second collaboration with Lisa. Gouache on bristol board. 11”x 14” / _____ annual invitation Dear Under the house Phantom, Today is our living together forever anniversary. As per previous years, I am extending an invitation to finally touch. Catching glimpses of your rainbow tail before it disappears back under the floorboards is taking its toll. I feel your eyes watching me as I walk around the house in a daze. I confess the idea of you watching me while I dance around in my smalls is rather exhilarating. Is it possible you have a Mrs(MR) Under the house Phantom? If so I will surely cease any further correspondence and cover up. Or are you afraid of giving your rainbow tail away again? I promise to be gentle and understanding and equally as afraid. It is possible we are a match made in the skies. Please consider my invitation, / I do not know what to serve other than me. With Love, Lisa – Lisa Jewell
I remember a few of the more exotic carousel animals as a kid, but I know my imagination would have kicked into high gear with some of the fantasy animals like this little creature. A beautiful little creature to take you to the depths of the ocean on an adventure like no other. No cowboys, knights or jungles. But there could be a mermaid, a whale, maybe even a… SHARK! ;o) Created from a sketch I saw in a window of a miniature carousel seahorse from memory. Painted in Photoshop using natural media brushes in my impressionistic style. This had 6 layers and took me about 5.5 hours to complete. Featured in: / Fantasy Art Feb 2010
