  • The Speed of Fire by Ronald Maurer

As always I carry my camera eveywhere I go. Went to a weekend barbque a long time friends house. Took some daylight pics where I wound up catching a few ticks. But @ night time the fire started. Some old furniture was broken up to feed the flames. ( hence the screws visible in this image ) I took alot of pics of the fire and got quite a number that I liked. The shape of the flames in this image spoke to me.

  • Fat-tailed Gecko by Steven Sass

The Fat-tailed gecko Diplodactylus conspicillatus is listed as an endangered species in NSW. It is known from only four locations in western NSW, which I will not disclose due to their rarity. But the species has adapted perfectly for life in the arid zone. Their bulbous tail acts, not only as a fat storage organ, but also a front door! These guys live in the abandoned burrows of trap-door spiders, and block the entrance with their fat tail to keep out predators and keep in moisture. This unusual trait also has the species being known as the Burrow-plug Gecko.

  • Burning by shortarcasart

During the festival Las Fallas in Valencia, Spain, artists built paper mache and wood monuments in each junction or square (more than 250 in the city). The last day of the festival they are all burnt on the 19th March apart from one figure which is saved by popular vote. The heat that comes up from this huge bonfires (as high as a 4-store building sometimes) is inmense. Photos taken from helicopters are awesome as it looks like the whole city is on fire.
