Some of us remember driveway service , when you got SERVICE at service stations Today, the township of Yackandandah stands as testimony to those early gold mining days. Our story however, begins long before the discovery of gold in April 1852, and the ensuing gold fever that followed. It is thought that this valley was used seasonally by Aboriginal tribes in the area for food and hunting needs. There are thirty seven National Trust buildings for you to explore in our High Street. Ten of which are listed on the National Estate Register; Athenaeum, Courthouse, ANZ Bank, Bank of Australia, Uniting Church, Holy Trinity Church, Bank/Saddlery, Dean’s Grocery Store and the Stone Bridge. Every town and city has its “other end of town” and true to form in Gloucester NSW Australia you will find the remmants of once thriving businesses. Along the railway line I stumbled across this once proud building that was once the local Squash courts. An artist from the past had lovingly painted this mural to promote the sport and brighten this dull end of town. Today it stands abandoned, as does the old truck parked there, probably an ugly eyesight to many but I found it fascinating and worthy of capturing for history.
As with people in life, the old seemed to have been forgotten and left behind unattended for, left to it’s own devices , it changes grey in color as the world around grows in abundance, swallowing up the existance of the poor old building that must have once had love and been cared for, it’s windows broken like a heart torn apart, the lost memories it holds that once told a story, the echoes of the people who once occupied it, but who shall ever know of how it came to be or how it shall end, as the story is left untold, how sad, it must feel, all the character of it existance is almost gone, and one day, they will never even know that this old beauty was there….. / Virginia N. The final shot from this lovely old weathered house in North Fremantle, Perth , Western Australia This shot shows the whole front facade. The owner who lives in the property next door said it is beyond repair which is a shame. / Camera – Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 Other shots of the same house: /
I’m sure this old bench, at the front of this weary, weathered house could share many secrets from days gone by. / Taken in North Fremantle, Perth, Western Australia / Camera – Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ30 Other shots of the same house - /

I find old buildings rather interesting and found this one behind some farm buildings near Kentmere. / It is actually an original “Westmoreland Privy” or for those not familiar with the word privy…an outside toilet. / Probably about 150 years old it now has a more respectable use as a log shed. /
There’s a whole lot of life in this barn. Built by my uncle Ron and his son-in-law Mitch, it is used for many things, including shearing their alpacas. My Aunty Rose has a gallery upstairs with Alpaca products and other crafts. It’s also used for craft sessions and has housed a few darn good parties! 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself? See my profile page, it’s pretty comprehensive and fairly quotable.
2. What and/ or who brought you to the redbubble? A local arts magazine publisher who suggested my images were worth selling.
3. What made you decide to join our group? There are very few groups, let alone urbex groups, on Red Bubble… and if you don’t take part you get left out! I’d like to sell & license my images so I need to be where other people might look.
4. Which image or artist in our group inspires you? I tend to be busy on my own work. I am conscious that I bring a more intepretive and nightmarish angle to urbex, and that really annoys the hardcore vandal explorers who prize breaking the law above photographic merit – GOOD! Who says urbex can’t be artistic?... I don’t break the law either.
5. Who would you thank in the redbubble for the most inspiration to you? Like I said I am very busy formulating my own style and images. I don’t consciously follow anyone’s work on Red Bubble. I am inspired by my surroundings, and those mysterious places I uncover, not by any desire to copy another person’s techniques.
