  • Jestor Comes To Dinner by Buddy Sears

This piece is from my cubist collection. I love cubism and I have my own way with it. I think cubism should be as fun as possible, because it’s a fun style. It’s also a complicated way to paint, and hats off to any artist out there making the attempt. / Painting cubism is such a unique state of awareness that an artist can become completely immersed in the process of painting it. Jestor Comes to Dinner was a nonsensical statement about the chaotic nature of meeting new people. I wanted it to convey the possibility of all the fun and adventure of unexplored social beginnings. I always value the days when I encounter someone new and interesting. That’s what this painting is about for me. / While this is oil on canvas, I brought together several different brush techniques to achieve the subject matter. For some reason, I didn’t paint for 6 weeks after painting this one. That never happens. I hope this painting makes people smile a little, life is too short to be taken so seriously all the time.

  • The Queen of the Nile (Mixed Media Acrylics)- by Robert Dye

This is a mixed media painting that was produced on a piece of white heavyweight paper. I began this work a few years ago, by cutting a black monoprint on newsprint into sections and gluing them to the white paper. A figure formed from the positive and negative shapes of the monoprint. I then began drawing a few defining lines of subordinate subjects with ink. I then glued interesting gold and iridescent textile pieces to the work, which added texture, color, and form. After this I painted (with acrylics) the remaining spatial areas, also using a selective amount of gold and bronze metallic acrylic paints. I then refined some areas with ink again, (like the woven planters) and also glued real seashells to the work as accents (for her jewelry). Overall the piece conveys a cubistic feel, with interesting simplified forms, and a variety of patterns and textures which also help to express the Egyptian theme. I enjoyed relating a timeless subject that also contains elements of certain spiritual and philosophical beliefs. The original dimensions of the piece are 23in. X 18in. The initial monoprint and drawing work was established in 2005, and the remaining painted work was completed in 2008.

  • Blood and Bone #2 (Material Assemblage)- by Robert Dye

This is an abstract work that was comprised of fabrics, gesso, spray paints, and some acrylic paints and india ink. I started with the organization of various shapes and colors of textured fabrics. Some pieces were sewn together and other areas were merely pinned and glued (together or overlapped). Then I painted geometric areas with spray paints and gesso. After the gesso dried, I also painted in shapes with similar colors of acrylics, adding to the overall texture and echoing spaces for greater definition. Ink was also used, which absorbed into the fabrics, bringing the inherent textile texture to the surface. The original dimensions of the work are 24in. X 22in. It was initiated a few years ago and completed in 2008.

  • I have just finished developing new enlargement software that will increase the size of your artwork or photos up to 75 inches without pixelation. It’s called Pixel Terminator, and I would like to invite each of you to try it, it’s free to check it out. The software also does amazing color correction. You just upload your file, and in about 10 to 15 minutes it comes back to you. I developed this myself, so it has all the muscle an artist would give it. Enjoy, it’s fun to use. Oh, let me know how you like it. I developed it with my Red Bubble friends in mind. www.pixelterminator.com

  • composition I - acrylic/plaster 129 x 60cm by Wheeler

This was actually my very first relief/acrylic artwork I have done back in the mid 90s. To get the structure/texture, I have used a liquid plastic moulding kind of material to create some imprints. In a next step I have filled this “negative” with liquid plaster which gave me the “positive” I could incorporate into the artwork. Needed quite a lot of sanding before I could start with the painting.

  • dancing - acrylic/plaster 138 x 72cm by Wheeler

The original German title is “Traumtaenzer”. A “Traumtaenzer” is someone who always has his head in the clouds. A dreamer or fantasizer maybe ? I made it for a person who always had high hopes. A person who expected so much from life, from the people he met.

  • The Enigma of the Woman (Acrylics)- by Robert Dye

This work was created with acrylics and some inks on a stretched canvas. The arrangement of the figures is very cubistic and abstract, but the initial drawings were derived from life study, and then comprised all together. The figures represent three women who I had known at different time periods of my life, and there pose and inter-related visual expressions convey different personal and emotional concepts. The use of symbiotic lines and implied forms of the overlapping figures creates and overall very pleasing aesthetic affect. I used some acrylic sand gel mediums in certain areas for added textural affect, and some other areas were selectively accented with red ink and india ink. I really enjoyed the abstract nature of the simplified and reduced shapes, as well as the bright coloration, layers of the paints, and repetitive line qualities of the piece. The original dimensions of the canvas are 36in. X 24in. This work was started about five years ago, with the drawing, before it developed into the current painted concept. It was recently completed in 2008.

  • About being at the mercy of a devlish and charming person. Who entices you with something you can’t really use, like a pair of Holy shoes, and then leaves you standing in those Holy shoes with your explanatory big tow sticking out. Charmed by the Devil – About my boyfriend in France. About being in love, fooled, and betrayed.

  • I wrote it about feeling confined, being kept in a cage of sexual innuendo until it hinders your ability to be human and sexual.

  • vision - acrylic/plaster 50 x 60cm by Wheeler

“Vision” is another of my acrylic/plaster reliefs. This time I used a slightly different, more “square-ish” format. I was quite happy with the outcome. When the relief, i.e the foundation, was done, I just let it go and used my favourite colours to finish this work.
