Wondering if asking for votes through journal entry is ok, even if the journal entry is added to different groups |
The hosts of this group will have to answer that one. But in general, I’m not a fan of any BM/JE/Forum posts asking people to vote for them for any competitions. I think the work should speak for itself, not how many people are on the persons watchlist. |

I could not agree more…......let the work speak…............. |

caroline, I just noticed your JE on the comp. You may need to remove your image from the Journal so you dont disqualify yourself. Below is taken from the Challenge guidelines Journals may be added to your portfolio that link to the challenge main page – But NOT to your individual entry |

I have taken out my image, am I ok now? Can I post that journal where ever I like? |
About the work speaking…..I just what people who like my image to know it is in the running |

Caroline, Sorry, my first post wasn’t directed at you. Was merely saying what i feel in general re: asking for votes etc. Regarding your Journal, i think you’ll need to get rid of the link to your image as well. I am not 100% sure as I’m not a group host but i think it needs to go otherwise you could very well end up disqualifying yourself. Edit- Good luck in the Competition :) |

Journals linking to the competition are fine, but not to your individual piece of work. Many people in the Begging Bubblemails thread stated that they wished to drect people to the challenge – a journal entry will still allow this, however – it should be just that, and link only to the main competition page. |

why is there an option to email people about your work. what is the difference between emailing someone and bubblemailing them??? |
I think it is a way that you can introduce redbubble to people you know that are not members of redbubble yet. |
It is conradictory to the rules but not to Redbubble agenda which is to get new people to the site so I think we will be seeing that option stick. In my opinion it is the same as the definition givien earlier in this group about spam… it’s just email spam. |
By way of clarification… my post had to do with the promote my work option that allows you to spam friends and family members by email and not to do with the original subject of journals. Which I dont see a problem with. |

I also want to add that logically this makes NO sense. Rules state you can not journal fellow artists to take a look at your specific work (who may or may not also have an entry and have probably looked through the other images already) BUT you can send mass email to obviously biased individuals (who have no interest in the contest as a whole but only in seeing you (their friend or family member) succeed) directly to your work. It is a generic messgae generated by redbubble to be sent to as many emails as you provide that says Vote for my work, your soul will thank you for it… that is SO spam . There is no way that can not be considered spam and the only context in which this makes sense is to direct people to Redbubble… so, in reality, this is redbubble getting us to spam for them. Ingenious but not logical and not fair in this setting. Promote my work would be a great button to have on your portfolio.. but not on your contest image. And would be advantageous to the whole redbubble community without giving anyone unfair advantage in a contest. I don’t have an image in this contest, btw. Just an interest in seeing this new feature improve. |

The promote your work button is new and works in a way that you can email people on your email list [or who you have addresses for]. It doesnt email Rebubble users through their bubblemail account. |

Re: “email this” link… not nearly as obvious as promote my work and not quite the same appealing sound to it, haha. Dictionary “American Heritage” one definition for promote – To attempt to sell or popularize by advertising or publicity. Okay, bowing out of the discussion… have given my opinion :) You’re great Julie, you keep it all together! |
