About This Group
CAT LOVE is a group for people who enjoy the beauty of cats, and dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens around the world. This is a place for artists to share their cat pictures, artworks, journals, writings, and poems; from wild, homeless to housecats.
CAT LOVE group Grand Opening – November 09, 2007. Feel free to contact me by BUBBLEMAIL with any questions or concerns.
CAT LOVE also love to bring the awareness of ethical treatment of animals and growing feral cat populations:
- One unspayed female cat can produce 36 cats in just one and a half years – an unneutered male can help create limitless litters of kittens. Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are dumped at overcrowded animal shelters, where most are put to death.
- The less fortunate ones will be turned out to fend for themselves in all extremes of weather, lose battles with traffic and disease, have no constant food source, and perhaps even be stolen by laboratory dealers or used as bait by dogfighters. Simple surgery (spaying for females, neutering for males) is the solution.
- To stabilize and ultimately reduce the feral cat population is to rescue the kittens and TNR the adults. Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is a method of managing cat colonies that involves humanely trapping the animals, spaying or neutering them, vaccinating them (ideally), and returning them to where they were found. Kittens and tame cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy adult cats too wild to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat.
- The cats are not simply released anywhere in the wild. Fundamental to the success of TNR is continued care of the feral cats by colony caretakers, who feed them and monitor their health. TNR offers a morally acceptable alternative to killing healthy animals and helps placate neighbors who object to the spraying, howling and fighting of sexually intact cats.
NEVER BUY ANIMALS FROM PET STORES OR BREEDERS. Those who breed millions of dogs and cats each year for profit are contributing to the companion animal overpopulation crisis. Every newborn puppy or kitten means one home fewer for a dog or cat desperately waiting in a shelter or roaming the streets.
Donate proceeds from art sales to your local feline or animal rescue organizations will be a great way to gain your karma points.
Together we can make a difference for the homeless animals. Your generosity will help these organizations continue their efforts to care for the homeless animal population in your area; dedicated to the humane care and control of the homeless cat population.
Other than money, you can also delicate your time on volunteering. A lot of animal rescue organizations are in desperate need of volunteers.
WITHIN THE HEART OF EVERY STRAY, LIES THE SINGULAR DESIRE TO BE LOVED.
