Taken at the Hobart Hot Rod Show, March 22 2008. The best $15 I’ve spent in a long time :o) I’m not much of a rev head but man I love the curves on these old American classics. The paint jobs, the chrome, the leather, the taillights and the fluffy dice hanging from the rear view mirror…Mm Mmmmm This is the first of a series of Hot Rod shots I’ll be uploading over the coming weeks.

Red Riding in the Hood by Glennis Siverson

I was walking down a small street when I saw that these two riders would meet each other. I also loved how the scene was all grey in color, except for the person on the moped. In addition to the movement of the bike and moped, I was walking while shooting, so the motion was two ways.

BURNING RUBBER by SMOKEYDOGSOCKS
THIS CHEVY VEGA IS BUT ONE OF THE MANY CAR TYPES THAT EVENTUALLY MADE IT INTO FUNNY CAR STATUS. THIS FIBERGLASS RENDITION WAS DOING A NICE JOB OF “BURNING RUBBER” IN ORDER TO HEAT UP HIS TIRES ENOUGH TO MAKE THEM STICK TO THE TRACK, SO HE COULD HOPEFULLY REACH THE END OF THE QUARTER MILE BEFORE THE GUY IN THE OPPOSING LANE. THIS PHOTO WAS TAKEN WITH A CANON F-1 AND A CANON 100-200 F:5.6 TELEPHOTO LENS WITH KODAK 100ASA FILM, THEN SCANNED INTO MY COMPUTER AND COLOR CORRECTED AND CROPPED A LITTLE. FUNNY CARS AND FUEL DRAGSTERS AS WELL AS ALL OTHER CARS IN DRAG RACING HAVE EVOLVED INTO A STATE WHERE YOU CAN’T JUST TAKE YOUR STREET CAR AND SUPE IT UP AND TAKE IT RACING ANYMORE. IT MUST BE BUILT WITH RACING IN MIND AND THAT HAS BECOME TOO EXPENSIVE FOR MOST GUYS THAT USED TO TAKE THE WORK CAR TO THE TRACK AND GRUDGE RACE IT. THESE DAYS, YOU NEED SPONSORS TO HELP COVER THE ENORMOUS COST OF THE SPORT, OR A REAL DEEP POCKET BOOK.
