A prayer flag is a colorful panel or rectangular cloth often found strung along mountain ridges and peaks high in the Himalayas to bless the surrounding countryside or for other purposes. Unknown in other branches of Buddhism, prayer flags are believed to have originated with Bön, which predated Buddhism in Tibet. Traditionally they are woodblock-printed with texts and images. Gigantic flame-feathered hawk whose luminescence could blind as well as cure for blindness remains one of the most ancient and powerful symbols of initiation. This is a key Indo-European myth most strikingly reflected in the culture of fire worshippers (Sassanids, Persians, Egyptians, Hindoos and Ancient Slavs). / Firebird (Phoenix ) embodies the light of Divine Truth and Wisdom, the primordial laws of the Universe, and as a symbol of initiation it is coming into the human’s view in the transitional moments of his live.
