  Landscape, Travel & Nature Winners!

First place goes to Rocks and Shrubs by MagnusAgren

“I love this because it's so delicate and gentle - it's also not your typical big sky, grand vista, grand light landscape. It's so hard to choose just one image, but I just kept coming back to this one. The depth of field between the tiny tree on the rock and the start of the forest really sets this off. The water line around the bottom of the rocks and the edge of the forest also suggest so much more.” — James Pierce

First place goes to First Taste Of Rain by Nancy Coyle

“This has an amazing power about it, classical lighting style and a raw emotion, that can be ambiguous in it's tone from complete joy to even anguish... I just adore the light - too perfect for words... the way it runs off the shoulders, and even glistens on the material on her back. I love the way the image is built out of darkness... the underlying texture also helps convey the emotion in the image. Colour palette is so well controlled, with the right amount of colour balance and texture... Just a brilliant moment captured in perfect ligth. WINNER!” — Paul Vanzella

First place goes to Just Do It by Sharad Haksar

“One of the best B&W images I have seen in a while. All the elements of great street photography have been utilised here - timing, opportunity and location. The sign, the dog and the stance all point to the centre of interest. A real winner this one.” — Brian Murray

First place goes to In God we Trust by ECFTBH

“Irreverence and plenty of attitude, strong art direction and great lighting. Vignetting pulls the subject forward, snarling. Xavier reckons this is too contentious to choose as the category winner... he may be right, but this is just too engaging for second place.” — Grant Bissett

  Europe Category Winners!

First place goes to Carousel by Lasse Damgaard

“Europe as we all know, is full of some of the most incredible architecture man has ever created, almost every spore of civilisation grew from this geographical amoeba. It is so photogenic you barely need to hold the camera to your face. Carousel by Lasse Damaard which has hauled itself into first place is an incredible, I'm just goint to repeat that, incredible, collection of pixels, especially from one so young. I was going to rant on about the textures, the lighting, the emotion that raged in me when I first saw it, but I won't, just feast your own eyes over this remarkable piece of binary..” — Ed Redman
