I recently got an intuos tablet. / This is the first “real” thing I’ve created while using it. / Other then this I’ve just been scribbling and trying to get used to using it. / I’m pretty excited about it!
I took this shot at a flea market. I love the history and memories these old things bring to mind. We need to appreciate all our modern conveniences more. Can you imagine what it would be like today in a world without electricity?
Curiosity might kill the cat, but not me, well, at least not yet anyway…Yup, that’s me and my shadow! This old root cellar was muddy as all get out. I hadn’t planned on filming this abandoned old building, but I felt as if I was led to it. That morning, I put on my hiking shoes and took a flashlight with me, without a second thought. The old, rusty cellar doors opened up quite easily. Once propped up, down I went. Inside I sloshed around in the mud, having fun as always on my surprise adventures. If I had my high top hiking shoes on, I probably would have done some good slip sliding away! Oh well, maybe another time? The interior was filled with old, rustic beams, crumbling plaster that revealed old stone walls and brick walls as well. Random width floors were evident as I looked up at the ceiling. Old boots were lying in the mud, making me wonder who wore once wore them. There was some electrical wiring, but it was archaic at best, indicating to me that this building had not been used for many decades. Despite the fact that this building is abandoned and decaying, it was still quite beautiful to me. I love history and when I see the craftsmanship of the past, all done by hand, I am always spellbound! This photograph was shot with a Canon 40D in Exton, Pennsylvania. The image has been altered to add a little bit more texture with a painted dry brush effect.
What’s the time? Summer time ! Have a good one all you guys…
Beats your average factory-produced business shoes, for sure! Traditional rich colours and upturned toes of North Indian footwear on display in Singapore. These shoes are worn by men and while I’m told they are extremely comfortable, I’ve never road-tested them! I shot this image in a display setting outside a store in Singapore’s Little India area. Because it was indoors, the low light was a help, not a hindrance. This was one of about half a dozen frames, but I reckon it has the edge because of the depth of field, the tight composition – and the fact it would be a great advertisement for a three-legged race. I shot this aspect deliberately, so that a viewer’s eye would first be drawn to the intricate, gilt handiwork on the shoes – and then be drawn forward to the graceful, long points. I do not crop, enhance or post-edit my images in any way. Shot with a Pentax K100D, using a Sigma 18-125mm lens. F6.7, 1/45 sec, ISO 800, focal length 88mm. A shot i took of a pakaru old chair in a house that dates back to around the 1950’s ish. There was news paper on the wall from that era so perhaps it was a little later It was possibly the only chance i had to take photos as the house was part of a survey done to locate old homesteads made of sod. This one had weather boards on it :) Taken with a Canon DS6041 I put it with one of my poems: In the days of the old ones / When work was hauling logs / Clearing land for what we see today / Destruction and unclogged / Houses made of earth / People made of flesh / Dreams of a better life / In a land of no regret Aotearoa our land / So distant from any other / A place to stand alone / A land in no need of another Rolling hills that grow / Into snowy mountain peaks / That hold an infinate wisdom / In which it likes to speak / Listen to the whispers of the trees / To the mountains as they talk / Listen as the Tui sing / As the totara and kauri walk / A land of infinate wonder / And greeness all around Imagine what it was like / When gods still roamed the earth / Such thunderous roars and footsteps / As they gave birth to everything / Tangaroa and Tane, Tawhiri as well / Are all still present today / As they were when the earth was young You see them in the ocean / In the forests undergrowth / In the murmuring sounds of the winds / As they pick up all thats loose / Im proud of this country / And all that its achieved / For one thats constantly over looked / Weve achieved many great things Heres a tribute to you people / Who come from this land / A land in which i have grown / And i intend to stay till the end.
