  • Forest of the Night by Janis Zroback

/ “Forest of the Night” is part of the Landscape series… Watercolour on Hot Press Arches… This frigid green forest is a fantasy of winter to come….I used a number of layers of paint in greens over ochres to get the effect I wanted…the last light coming through the trees is sundown…one of my old sketches turned into something quite different... / The forest of the night can be a site of relief / Or a place to run and hide from disgrace / In its darkness can reside the truth, honesty and belief / Or just another den for withdrawal, a hiding place. The forest of the night is crowded with many things / Thoughts, feelings, voices, and memories we see / All eddy around and settle, to us they may bring / A moment of truth, horror, fear, or clarity. The forest of the night is a phenomenon of the mind / Where the shadows linger in the dusk as a part / It is our choice to embrace the truths we find / Or bury ourselves, and hide to protect the heart. The forest of the night speaks to our fears / It reveals them as lucid, obvious, clear as day / Darkness inhabits and grows there, for months and years / Where thoughts are sowed, grounded, or kept at bay. The forest of the night is calling, it knows all by name / In it resides our choices to make, face, and construe / Do we face all that exists or hide from the agony and pain? / The forest summons, in this forest, what will you do? / At the end of the day there’s the forest of the night / Where we go to visit our inner identity / There it lies ahead of us, waiting, it is our plight / The dwelling where we must look at truths that be....Anya

  • The Pear Tree by Janis Zroback

/ This is the tree I thought I’d prune / into manageability and ripe fruit, / the way my mother pruned me, hands / folded in my lap, my wiry hair cut short. But I like it the way it is, a constellation / outside my window, its dreamy limbs in a tangle / from the second-story roof to the clothesline, / a dusting of lichen, like talc, on its skin. NOW ABOUT THIS GROUP

The Bits and Pieces Group encompasses those bits that do not really fit in to the other groups…..

..for people new to writing… and anything else they may need a hand with….......where novices can post without feeling self conscious …..

.....a place where everyone with a love for expressions can meet and greet…...and say…”.Hey….....how can I finish this off..”

Or where ones upload has been exceeded….and a refuge is needed until they can post again….

This is just a “Pub on the Corner” type place…....

....we like to think of it as “BIPS” where our beeps of imagination become beautiful songs!

Is yours the next Masterpiece?
The voice that speaks to hearts?
An escape to moments of harmony?

you’ll never know until you’ve tried!
