Untitled by skeeter
A play with some everyday items and a lightbox has resulted in this abstract image. Whilst not an original idea…it was fun.

Lake Hanson by Robert Mullner
After trekking the whole day in a cloud…as per a couple previous uploads…and having bumped into a couple keen photographers who were also braving the constant drizzle, I decided to wait around to see what would happen, long after seeing these other photographers heading back….I watched and waited from a nearby peak as the cloud layer slowly lifted at the end of the day revealing the lake below and the mountains their Autunmnal colors….it truly was a sight to behold, and to photograph..This was a big day, with a 03:00 start out and hike up in the dark to finally getting back down, again in darkness…but one of the most memorable days out I’ve ever had…Taken recently at Cradle Mountain ~ Van Diemens Land ~ Aus….

Ulladulla Sailor by Dean Dampney
This guy served as one of those great inspiring sages that stumbled into my life so surreptitiously – a great moment for me, and an image that I refer too often. The setting is at Ulladulla boat harbour with the sailor set before his boat after a trans Pacific voyage

Isolation by Gerijuliaj
This photograph is one of a series on windows/isolation/spaces between people/ etc. This one depicts my daughter Lauren who was disabled in a car accident when she was four. Despite this tragedy, she has achieved a lot. Representing Australia in the US in wheelchair sports, becoming a fashion model in the 90s which culminated in a lot of media coverage and led to her being chosen as the face of the year for the Australian Couture collection in Sydney. ‘Too much Too Young’ could be her theme song as sadly soon after her life spiralled out of control and culminated in an overdose in 2000. She was on life support for a week and was not expected to survive, but I just knew she would… It has been a slow road back but with lots of support and encouragement Lauren is finding her way again this time through writing and art. She hopes to have her writing printed one day and is considering doing a fine art degree next year. Lauren has a classic beauty and since I took up photography about 3 years ago has been ‘my muse’ on many occasions. I particularly like this photo of her as it shows her classic looks off in a setting reminiscent of the 20-30s. The window serves not only as a protection from the outside world but can also be seen as a form of imprisionment and isolation. The window frame acts as a support, but also could be conceived as a burden.

The Chair by newbeltane
This chair is in the church where my wife’s grand-father was Churchwarden in the Second World War. Its in Burnsall in the Yorkshire Dales. I was attracted by the play of light and shadow and felt a sepiatone was more appropriate.

Anger by Simon Bowker
I can feel it rising up, / as if a fire is burning inside. I crave revenge but I know that I am better than that, / so I hide it….. / deep beneath the surface. But sometimes, when I let my guard down, / People catch a glimpse.

Paranoid ? by AnthonyDavey
This is an old pic from my days living in Kings Cross, I lived in this converted wharehouse which had vast space, it great what you can do with studio lights, wine and some imagination. Tri X would have been my film of choice back then.

Please read the revised guidelines and other announcements.
For some of us photography has evolved into more than just a hobby and has become a part of who we are. Maybe you’ve begun (or are looking) to showcase your work at a gallery. Maybe you are studying the craft full time. Maybe you are earning your income (or trying to) through photography. Or maybe you are just extremely passionate about photography as a form of art and self expression. If any of this applies to you, than this group is for you.
If you have any questions or suggestions/ideas about the group, please give me a shout or write them down on the journal entry I created (follow the “guidelines” link below or see my profile).
