24×48 oil on canvas / Music has always had a profound affect on my work, This painting in particular is one from a series where I actually referenced the direct inspiration in the artwork. More often I have used a lyric (or a portion of) as a title to help describe what it is that sparked the vision. Some of you may already be familiar with Antistar in it’s Massive Attack form. Their music in particular is (for me) highly sensual and sinister at the same time. Upon the first listen to Risingson I was transported to someplace I hadn’t explored before. The same followed for many of their songs and so for quite some time after that initial listen the idea to do this series kept resurfacing. After my first trip to London and meeting the author of the music I decided to put the brush to canvas and make those flashes that appeared with such clarity more substantial. I have found that since doing so, the painting Antistar has either struck a chord with people that have heard it’s musical counterpart already, or has spurred some on to explore Massive Attack for the first time. I am not a huge fan of spelling out what this painting means or what it’s symbolism is preferring to have the audience (that’s you) come to their own conclusions. Art is a highly personal thing and how we react to it doubly so. I hope you enjoy this piece and let her take you wherever your own senses guide.

Really know you, I have been so isolated here in my tower longing for such a brave knight as you. A man of tenacity and resourcefulness who could mentally outsmart the witch and you are here and I want to connect and I long to know your truth.’ she said. ‘Ah, my truth, do you think you can handle my truth? He questioned. ‘The brighter the sun, the darker the shadows that are cast. I want to know the man inside the knight.’ She mused. ‘My shadow could be grey or even black and you my find it too much to stay and listen. Isn’t the fact that I am here now and I have waited for you enough? ’ He said looking away. Taking his eyes from her felt like being thrown into the cold dark night of the witch’s world. ‘Your actions are what caught my attention and makes me want to learn more about you. And I have waited too. Oh my have I waited. I want to know the battles you have fought, the dragons you have slain, your defeats, your victories, doubts, fears, how your mind imagines and how your heart feels. I want to know you intimately.’ He turned back to look at her and she could feel the warmth from his eyes on her and she smiled. His charisma and energy ignited her spirit and aroused such yearning in her. ‘It may not be pretty, it may be different to what you expect and imagine but I will share myself with you. Where would you like me to start?’ He asked tenderly. ‘I want to know the journey that has brought you to me. You know my prince the single most powerful act we can do is share our vulnerability.’ She walked towards him and stood beside him as he looked out of from the tower to the distant land. The appreciation of all styles and mediums in art making (No photography please).

So this is the group for all you Fine Art Artists
(please no Photography or Digital Art, there is a Fine Art Photography group for your beautiful Photographs)
a few rules though….

1. Only TWO works per day.
(if you put more than two on, I will accept two and reject the others.)
2. All Fine Art mediums (drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture etc)
3. No photographs or digital works please, as there are plenty of groups on Redbubble already existing for photography and digital art.
4. Nudity is accepted if painted or drawn, no photographs again, no photoshop art.
5. No writing unless it is writing about your art making, other artists, exhibitions and questions about art or materials – but remember we have forums that we’d like you to participate in and they are a more appropriate place to write in.
6. IF YOU SEND EITHER myself or a cohost abusive emails than you will be removed from from the group, if you cannot speak nicely, than you can join another group.
