Topic: General Discussion / Japanese Music?

There’s a possibility to get some “Japan only” iTunes i saw on a website once. I should have the link somewhere.

Other than that… YesAsia.com and… i dare say it, Ebay.

Never mind a real long holiday. ;)

Topic: General Discussion / Japanese Music?

I’ve noticed that there are some JMusic fans floating around Burst and I was wondering where you guys find your JMusic? Last time I checked iTunes didn’t have anything and neither did yahoo or Amazon (in mp3 format anyways).

I’d love to find a JMusic etailer somewhere. I know I can buy some of the OSTs from DiscountAnimeDVD.com and if I feel like overpaying (which I don’t) I can buy import CDs from some of the Big Box brick and mortar etailers. Are there better options or are those of us who are unfortunate enough to live outside of Japan just SOL?

Topic: General Discussion / Written Works Cleaned Up

I’ve cleaned up the written works section. Anything that wasn’t prose or scriptwriting has been removed. This should help to highlight written pieces that are more in line with writing for anime and manga. Here are some good examples of prose and and script writing.

Prose:

Script writing:

http://www.redbubble.com/people/daftnation/writing/969233-poplaris-bar-booth-for-challange-cafe

Stuff like this should be submitted as journals as it really isn’t creative writing:

Foriegners have a interest in this issue also, because any of their work that is made available in the US will be subject to US laws. I’d urge your foriegn relataions (diplomats etc) to pressure the US based on that.

I believe it can be stopped. The bill has been failing at the early stages since the mid 1990s, but this time around it has gained some momentum. The important thing is that it has been beaten in the past. Fill out the forms and put on the pressure. If necessary I would say that this is the kind of thing where artists should gather at Washington DC for a protest.

If you think about it, who would be better at protesting than an artist? Artists would after all make some pretty flashy protest signs :)

Topic: General Discussion / Featured Burst Pieces

I Think the featured artists should be some one new not someone popular and some one who doesnt seem to get alot of attention. These sorts of sites are all popularity contests that should be changed! because its supposed to be about sharing art .. not who gets the most views!!

Topic: General Discussion / Say no to Orphan Works

Some US politicians have decided that artists need to register their work in order to protect if from infringers.

Basically, the H.R. 5889 The Orphan Works Act of 2008 and the S 2913 The Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008 substantially limit the damages an infringer has to pay for using your work without your permission, removes your right to refuse a lic. to the infringer if they don’t ask first, makes you pay to register all of your work to have it protected, leaves a garage door open for anyone who wants to register your work as their own, and did I mention that the bills are providing an opportunity for big businesses to jump in and profit from every work you make in the form of a registration fee? That’s right, you’re not paying the governement for this service as with a normal copyright registration (which is only a legal formality to establish a claim), you are paying what will amount to a Microsoft or a WalMart for this service.

The Illustrators Partnership of America has set up some forms to easily write your Senators and Representatives. You should use them if you agree that we are loosing too much to “rescue” so called orphan works.

This bill would apply to anything that could be copyrighted.
